Mens’ NSAA playoff Bracket…

Madison, SD (PlayNorthStar.com) – Bellevue  will be the No. 1 seed when the 2018 North Star Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Postseason Tournament kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 22.  The Bruins finished their regular-season with an overall record of 20-10 and earned the regular-season conference title outright with an 11-5 record in league play.

Jamestown  (20-9 overall record) and Dickinson State  (13-12 overall record) finished in a two-way tie for second-place in the North Star conference standings with 9-7 record.  The Jimmies own the tiebreaker over the Blue Hawks to secure the No. 2 seed (Blue Hawks will be the No. 3 seed in the conference postseason play).

Waldorf  (13-15 overall record) and Mayville State  (15-10 overall record) both ended up in a two-way tie for fourth-place in the league standings.  The Warriors earned the tiebreaker over the Comets for the No. 4 seed (MSU will be the No. 5 seed).

The top four seeds all host the first round games on Thursday.

Dakota State  (14-16 overall record), Viterbo  (15-13 overall record) and Valley City State  (14-15 overall record) finished in a three-way tie for sixth-place in the North Star conference.  After the tiebreaker protocol, the Trojans will be the No. 6 seed followed by the V-Hawks at No. 7 seed and the Vikings at No. 8 seed.

 

Women’s  NSAA Playoff Brackets…

Madison, SD   (PlayNorthStar.com)- Jamestown will be the top seed when the 2018  North Star Athletic Association Women’s Postseason Tournament begins on Wednesday, Feb. 21.  The Jimmies finished the 2017-18 regular-season schedule with an overall record of 27-3 and won the NSAA conference title outright with an undefeated 16-0 record.

Number two seed goes to Valley City State with an overall record of 22-4 and 13-3 NSAA conference record.  Bellevue  is the No. 3 seed (18-12 overall record, 11-5 NSAA record).  The number four seed belongs to Mayville State  with an overall record of 19-8 and 10-6 record in league play.

The top four seeds all host the first round games.

Dakota State  (12-18 overall record) and Presentation(12-14 overall record) finished in a two-way tie for fifth place in the North Star conference standings with an 8-8 record.  Both DaSU and PC split their meeting, as well as a win over Bellevue.  A coin toss was conducted to break the tie and was won by Dakota State, securing the No. 5 seed.  Presentation is the No. 6 seed.

Viterbo (6-22 overall record) and Waldorf  (6-20 overall record) were also tied for seventh-place in the North Star standings with a 3-13 record.  Both V-Hawks and Warriors split their meetings and earned a pair of victories over Dickinson State , therefore another coin toss was conducted to break the tie.  VU won the coin toss to earn the No. 7 seed, while WU will be the No. 8 seed.
