MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have selected Oregon State outfielder Trevor Larnach (LAHR’-nik) with the 20th overall pick in the Major League Baseball draft.

The first round was conducted on Monday night. The 21-year-old Larnach is hitting .327 with 13 doubles, 17 home runs and 65 RBIs in 214 at-bats for the Beavers, who will play Minnesota this weekend in the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament.

Larnach was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 40th round out of College Park High School in Pleasant Hill, California, in 2015, but he did not sign. This is the first time the Twins took a college outfielder with their first draft pick since 1969. They took Brent Rooker from Mississippi State with their second selection in 2017, in the supplemental round.
