Jamestown 4 Doane 1
CRETE, Neb. (uj.edu) — The University of Jamestown women’s soccer team took a 3-1 lead into halftime Saturday on the way to a 4-1 victory over Doane (Neb.) in Great Plains Athletic Conference action.
Dianne Miranda (SR/Tustin, Calif.) (3rd minute), Lateasha Hughes (SR/Minot, N.D.) (23rd), and Allison Best (FR/Cottage Grove, Minn.) (42nd) all scored in the first half.
Doane’s Cali McEntee scored in the 35th minute to cut UJ’s lead to 2-1, but Best answered just over seven minutes later.
Ana Balmaceda (SR/Glendora, Calif.) tallied a goal in the 74th minute to make it 4-1.
Amanda George (SR/Huntington Beach, Calif.), Sophie Bales (JR/Camarillo, Calif.), and Dianne Miranda had assists for Jamestown, now 8-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the GPAC.
Lauren Sayler (SR/Bismarck, ND) had two saves. Shots were 16-3 in favor of Jamestown, as were shots on goal (14-3).
Next up for the Jimmies is a 3:00 p.m. match in Yankton, S.D., on Thursday against Mount Marty College.

Jamestown 2 Doane 0
CRETE, Neb. (uj.edu) — The University of Jamestown men’s soccer team capitalized on a pair of first-half set pieces in a 2-0 win over Doane (Neb.) University Saturday afternoon.
In the 15th minute, Hamish Mills (SR/Adelaide, Australia) put the Jimmies on the board with a back-post header off of a corner kick. Lloyd van Wees (SO/Akersloot, Netherlands) was credited with the assist.
Jamestown’s lead grew to 2-0 when van Wees scored on a free kick in the 28th minute.
Jake Askew (JR/Rotherham, England) had three saves in posting a clean sheet. Shots were 18-9 in favor of Jamestown, including shots on goal (9-3).
The win evens UJ’s record in Great Plains Athletic Conference matches at 4-4-0, and boosts their overall mark to 5-7-1.
Next up for Jamestown is a road match Thursday in Yankton, S.D., against Mount Marty College. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
