Jamestown  (uj.edu) The University of Jamestown hockey team posted its second victory over a top-three team in eight days Friday, taking down the University of Illinois 3-2 at Wilson Arena.

Allan Pruss (JR/Red Deer, Alberta) scored on the power play with 30 seconds remaining in the second period to break a 2-all tie while Tyson Brouwer (JR/Lethbridge, Alberta) made 17 of his 37 saves in the third period to preserve the victory. The Jimmies won their second straight game and are now 3-2-0-1 on the year.

Despite a scoreless third period, Jamestown found itself having to kill off four penalties, including a 5-on-3 for a minute and twenty seconds. The Illini also pulled its goaltender for an extra skater with 1:42 remaining.

Jake Barnhart had 25 saves for Illinois (4-1-1-0), which lost in regulation for the first time this season.

The Illini were 1-of-8 on the power play while the Jimmies were successful on 1-of-5 opportunities.

The teams conclude their weekend series Saturday with a 7:00 p.m. faceoff at Wilson Arena.
