Jamestown  (uj.edu)  With the game tied 1-1 early in the second period, the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Rebels scored five straight goals on the way to a 6-1 win over the 10th-ranked University of Jamestown hockey team Thursday evening at Wilson Arena.

The loss snapped UJ’s five-game winning streak while the Rebels won their third straight.

UNLV took a 1-0 lead after the first period on Paxton Malone’s goal at 6:19.

Cole McKechney (JR/Calgary, Alberta) tied the game 33 seconds into the second period with his fourth of the season. Garret Browning (JR/Winnipeg, Manitoba) was credited with the assist.

Eric Williams put the Rebels back in front with a power play goal at 2:36, then former Jimmie Trevor Pereverzoff made it 3-1 at 16:14 of the second.

Jonah Pearson, Andrew Marshall, and John Moeller all lit the lamp in the third period to make it 6-1.

Tyson Brouwer (JR/Lethbridge, Alberta) had 31 saves for Jamestown while UNLV’s Jesse Gordichuk made 18 stops. The Jimmies were 0-for-4 on the power play and UNLV was 1-for-6.

Jamestown will host Arizona State Friday and Saturday at Wilson Arena. Game time both nights is 7:00 p.m.
