Hockey Day North Dakota at Rink on Allen Field

Jamestown  (uj.edu)  The University of Mary Marauders scored three unanswered goals Saturday evening, coming back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the University of Jamestown 3-1 at Hockey Day ND, played at First Community Credit Union Rink at Allen Field.

The outdoor matchup pitted the Jimmies, in their third year of American Collegiate Hockey Association play, against the Marauders, a first-year team competing in Division II of the ACHA. UJ defeated UMary by the same 3-1 score back on December 13 on the road.

Allan Pruss (JR/Red Deer, Alberta) scored at 15:53 of the first period to stake the Jimmies to an early lead. Michael Pruss (JR/Red Deer, Alberta) and Jeremy McNeil (JR/Calgary, Alberta) assisted on the goal.

UMary tied the game at 8:18 of the second on Jakob Parisien’s unassisted tally, then took a 2-1 lead 3:06 into the third period thanks to Benjamin Kottmeier’s goal.

Cyril Nagurski added a short handed empty net goal at 19:40 to seal the victory.

Jamestown outshot the Marauders 35-20 in the contest, but were 0 for 4 on the power play.

Tyson Brouwer (JR/Lethbridge, Alberta) had 17 shots for UJ, while Aaron Nelson made 34 stops for UMary.

The Jimmies are at home next Friday and Saturday as they welcome Eastern Michigan to John L. Wilson Arena. Game time is set for 8 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday.
