VCcommPixsValley City (CSi) The Valley City Commission met in Regular Session Tuesday evening at City Hall.  Council Member Magnuson was not present.

 APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS:

 A Game of Chance Raffle Permit for VC Chamber of Commerce and Student Nurse Organization.

PUBLIC FORUM: No one spoke.

A Public Hearing was held for Application for 5 Year Commercial Property Tax Incentives for New or Expanding Businesses for Northport Apartments Limited Liability Partnership, located at 855 12th Street NW.

Resolutions

The City Commission then approved a Resolution approving the 5 Year Commercial Property Tax Incentive to Northport Apartments, Limited Liability Partnership.

Approved a Resolution Creating Paving Improvement District No. 108, a new housing development, adjacent to 9th Avenue, Northwest.

Approved a Resolution Creating Paving Improvement District No. 109.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Approved a Retail Image Enhancement Grant (signage) for Miller Motors not to exceed $7,500.00.

The City Commission approved the 2014 Forestry Report. It noted an increase in Dutch Elm Disease.  The City Commission approved the 2014 Forestry Report. It noted an increase in Dutch Elm Disease. It was reported that  a Jamestown individual has a product to put on elms to help prevent the disease.

The City Commission approved a height extension request for Grand Stay hotel on Winter Show Road to exceed 35’ per the Zoning Ordinance to 48’.   Commissioner Pedersen abstained from voting.

CITY ADMINISTRATORS REPORT

David Schelkoph said anyone wanting a new AMI meter, may call City Hall.

A section of water main replacement project will be finished later this week.

The city will meet with KLJ and contractors on when to complete the project.

He said city officials had a meeting with employees on cyber security.

With city boulevard signs, Schelkoph will be establishing a committee to look at a city Ordinance, to provide direction.

City Attorney Myhre said he has met with the Economic Develop attorney regarding future dealings between the city and economic development.

He said the infraction previously discussed concerning My Bar, is still under review.

He added an animal Ordinance for Valley City is in final draft.

 

CITY UPDATE & COMMISSION REPORTS

City Auditor Richter said the November City Commission meeting will be on Monday November 3, 2014, as Tuesday the 4th is election day.

Commissioner Nielson said for the first time, the Rosebud Visitors Center recorded more visitors from Minnesota, than North Dakota. She noted a number of international visitors.

Commissioner Luke noted water commission concerns with water quality at the Sheyenne River, stemming from dry weather conditions.
