Red Cross ERVHarvey (CSi) The American Red Cross reports that volunteers across North Dakota are assisting to open a service center in Harvey, North Dakota to aid families displaced by a Thursday afternoon apartment fire.

Volunteers from Buffalo Valley Red Cross in Jamestown, Minot, and Fargo, were on their way to the acene Friday morning, to meet immediate needs.

They will be providing seasonal clothing, shoes, toiletry items and toys for children.

Wells County Emergency Management is also assisting in recovery needs and plans.

The Center will open at 3:00 PM at Harvey City Hall. The Red Cross will continue to provide additional resources and recovery planning for all those affected.

 HARVEY, N.D. (AP) – Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that displaced residents of an apartment building in Harvey.
 
 The  blaze began Thursday afternoon, and it took firefighters several hours to bring it under control. The building was destroyed.
 
     It was not immediately known how many people lived in the building. Two nearby hotels offered free housing to those who were displaced.
 
     American Red Cross volunteers from Minot, Jamestown and Fargo were traveling to Harvey on Friday to open a center to help the affected families.
