Many cities do not allow fireworks within city limits. Check with local<br \/>\nemergency management authorities to find out what laws apply in your area. The<br \/>\nsafest way to enjoy fireworks is through public displays conducted by professional<br \/>\npyro-technicians. Fireworks can be legally sold June 27th through July 5th (NDCC<br \/>\n23-15-01).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fireworks Safety<\/strong><br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Make sure there is no burn ban and that fireworks are legal in your<br \/>\ncounty.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Never light fireworks indoors or near dry grass.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Always have a bucket of water and\/or a fire extinguisher nearby and<br \/>\nknow how to operate the fire extinguisher properly.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do not wear loose clothing while using fireworks.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stand several feet away from lit fireworks.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If a device does not go off, do not stand over it to investigate.<br \/>\nInstead put it out with water and dispose of it.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Always read the directions and warning labels on fireworks.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Supervise children around fireworks at all times.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Barbecue Safety<\/strong><br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Before using a grill, check the connection between the propane tank<br \/>\nand the fuel line.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Make sure the venturi tubes &#8211; where the air and gas mix &#8211; are not<br \/>\nblocked.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do not overfill the propane tank.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do not wear loose clothing while cooking at a barbecue.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be careful when using lighter fluid. Do not add fluid to an already<br \/>\nlit fire because the flames can flashback up into the container and explode.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keep all matches and lighters away from children. Teach your children<br \/>\nto report any loose matches or lighters to an adult immediately. Supervise children<br \/>\naround outdoor grills.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dispose of hot coals properly &#8211; douse them with plenty of water, and<br \/>\nstir them to ensure that the fire is out. Never place them in plastic, paper or<br \/>\nwooden containers.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Never grill\/barbecue in enclosed areas &#8211; carbon monoxide could be<br \/>\nproduced.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Make sure everyone knows to stop, drop and roll in case a piece of<br \/>\nclothing does catch fire. Call 911 or your local emergency number if a burn warrants<br \/>\nserious medical attention.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keep grills a safe distance away from siding, deck railings, and out<br \/>\nfrom under eaves and overhanging branches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Campfire Safety<\/strong><br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 When camping, be familiar with the campground rules for the use and<br \/>\nextinguishing of campfires.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Build campfires at least 15 feet away from tent walls, shrubs or other<br \/>\nmaterials that burn.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Build campfires where they will not spread, away from dry grass and<br \/>\nleaves.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keep campfires small, and don&#8217;t let them get out of hand.<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keep plenty of water and a shovel around to douse the fire when you&#8217;re<br \/>\ndone.
