(AP Jan 14, 2013) &#8211; A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper is recovering in a hospital after a crash last week near Devils Lake.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ramsey County Sheriff Steve Nelson says the crash happened on Jan. 8, 2013\u00a0on U.S. Highway 2. He says 31-year-old Trooper Brian Mehlhoff was apparently responding to a vehicle in the ditch when he turned in front of another vehicle and was struck on the driver&#8217;s side.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nelson says Mehlhoff did not have his emergency lights on at the time and the crash and is being cited for an improper left turn. He doesn&#8217;t know where Mehlhoff is hospitalized but says the trooper&#8217;s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Two people in the other vehicle were treated at a hospital and released.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DEVILS LAKE, N.D.
