\"chevcruze2016\" Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The James River Figure Skating Club will hold drawings at the local Christmas Recital on December 4, <\/sup>2016 at 4:30 p.m., at Wilson Arena.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s\u00a0 free of charge and open to the public.<\/p>\n

On Friday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 Vice President, Judy Jorgenson said this is such an exciting time for the skaters as they get the opportunity to show the skills they are learning.\u00a0 It is also the only chance the community has to see their competitive skaters doing one of the routines they will be using this season.<\/p>\n

The Figure Skating Club is open to anyone age 3 to 103.<\/p>\n

Basic skating skills, include freeskate and adult classes, with\u00a0 3 – 7 week sessions each year beginning in September.<\/p>\n

Coach Mark teaches the competitive skaters and prepares them for testing and competition.<\/p>\n

They also teach a learn to skate program for Hockey which consists of 4 levels. This is a program that is supported by U.S. Figure Skating, USA Hockey and US Speedskating.<\/p>\n

Last year the Club had 13 competitors who attended 5 competitions, entered 113 events and metaled in 108 of them! 15 \u2013 4th<\/sup> place, 19 \u2013 3rd<\/sup> place, 30 \u2013 2nd<\/sup> place, and 44 \u2013 1st<\/sup> place<\/p>\n

Also on our show, Katrina Christiansen \u00a0said the Club has worked very hard this past year to evaluate the needs of our community and make plans for our club to best meet those needs.\u00a0 Some of their goals are to revive their booster club which had been inactive for some time, and also establish scholarship funds for low income families or those going through a time of financial crisis.<\/p>\n

The Club hopes to reach out not only to the people in Jamestown but the surrounding communities as well.<\/p>\n

Work continues\u00a0 on their adult program and will be trying to include the college in that as well.<\/p>\n

They have taken on an amazing fundraising opportunity, raffling off a 2016 Chevy Cruze, that may be seen at the Knights of Columbus Hall.<\/p>\n

They will be giving away eight $500.00 cash prizes.\u00a0 Tickets are 25.00 each and only 2000 tickets were printed.<\/p>\n

Tickets are available at Knights of Columbus Hall, Gifts From The Heart, Neighborhood Grocery, Eckman\u2019s Auto, and Northwest Tire.\u00a0 Tickets can also be\u00a0 purchased on their website: www.jamesriverfsc.org\u00a0 or from any local skaters.<\/p>\n
