{"id":110720,"date":"2016-12-09T05:00:29","date_gmt":"2016-12-09T11:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=110720"},"modified":"2016-12-10T14:28:17","modified_gmt":"2016-12-10T20:28:17","slug":"salvation-armys-red-kettle-campaign-starts-nov-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=110720","title":{"rendered":"Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-61317\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Salvation-Army-Bell-Ringer-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"Salvation Army Bell Ringer\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Salvation-Army-Bell-Ringer-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Salvation-Army-Bell-Ringer-259x175.jpg 259w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Salvation-Army-Bell-Ringer.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Salvation Army&#8217;s Red Kettle Campaign runs now thorugh December 24, 2016<\/p>\n<p>This year goal is $157,000 from both kettle donations and matching funds from anonymous donors.<\/p>\n<p>Last year&#8217;s $156,000 goal was\u00a0 short by $20,000.\u00a0 The shortfall was made up from a one-time rainy-day fund.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Salvation Army Major Tim Nauta says, the fundraising goal is reachable in the Jamestown\u00a0 community, requesting more individuals to give.<\/p>\n<p>He Points out that without enough revenue, one option is to cut services, adding that somewhat restrictive policies are already in place.<\/p>\n<p>Nauta adds, that the annual cost of\u00a0 providing direct services to individuals and families can reach $250,000 or more.\u00a0 He says in 2015 there were three anonymous matching donors in 2015 and two this year.<\/p>\n<p>More emphasis is being place on the\u00a0 mail appeal solicitations and revenue from the thrift store.<\/p>\n<p>Giving options include direct giving at the red kettle, a tax-deductible check by mail, or an electronic donation can be made online through the middle of January that is counted as part of the Red Kettle Campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The Red Kettle Campaign runs through Saturday, December 24, 2016, with, <a href=\"http:\/\/salvationarmynorth.org\/volunteer\/bellringing\/?trk_msg=1CRQSLTMMLFKH4234V4IHSSUV8&amp;trk_contact=4CFRF07OEN8VOJNPBNIPE9JIT0&amp;utm_source=listrak&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=http%3a%2f%2fsalvationarmynorth.org%2fvolunteer%2fbellringing%2f&amp;utm_campaign=Volunteers+Needed%3a+Bell+Ringing\">volunteer bell ringers<\/a> at the Cash Wise entrance to the Park Plaza, and at two entrances to the Buffalo Mall and Wal-Mart during store business hours Monday through Saturday.\u00a0 Starting the day after Thanksgiving at Wal-Mart.<\/p>\n<p>Major Terri Nauta says the Angel Tree Program, provides holiday gifts to children, adding that families can register their children for gifts or for a Christmas food box at the Jamestown Salvation Army office, on First Avenue North in Jamestown through November.<\/p>\n<p>Angel Tree cards will be at the Buffalo Mall from November 18 through December 8. Each card has a child&#8217;s age and gender, along with clothing size or a wish list.<\/p>\n<p>When a sponsor fills some or all of the card items and drops it off at the Salvation Army, the staff will match the card number to the child for distribution to the family.
