In memoriam of ARLA TRUCKE, 03\/13\/1922 – 12\/27\/2016<\/p>\n
A funeral mass for Arla Trucke, 94, of Valley City, ND will be 10:30 AM, Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City.<\/p>\n
Burial will take place in Memory Gardens near Valley City in the spring.<\/p>\n
Visitation will be held at the Lerud Schuldt Mathias Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday with a prayer service beginning at 7:00.<\/p>\n
Visitation will resume an hour prior to the service at the church on Friday morning.<\/p>\n
Arla Marie Aune was born in rural Barnes County, ND on March 13, 1922 to Ole and Millie (Rasmusson) Aune.<\/p>\n
Arla’s baptism certificate was issued at the Standing Rock Church in Fort Ransom, ND, written in Norwegian.<\/p>\n
Her childhood was spent growing up on a farm near Verona.<\/p>\n
Arla attended school in Verona, graduating from high school there.<\/p>\n
June 8, 1940, she married George Trucke in Moorhead, MN.<\/p>\n
They made their home in Verona.<\/p>\n
During WWII, George went to Seattle to work in the shipyards and Arla traveled with him.<\/p>\n
Following the war, they returned to Verona.<\/p>\n
In 1979, they moved to Valley City, ND.<\/p>\n
While living in Valley City, Arla found a job that fit with her love of visiting, she was a local Avon Lady.<\/p>\n
In 2015, she entered the Sheyenne Care Center, where she passed away December 27, 2016.<\/p>\n
She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church.<\/p>\n
Arla spent many hours crocheting, making blankets and other needleworks for loved ones.<\/p>\n
She liked to go fishing, but mostly enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.<\/p>\n
Arla is survived by her son, Kim (Lori) Trucke; grandchildren, Beth (Kyle) Hendrickson, Jill (Ryan) Walen, and Jenny (Bradley Baumgartner) Trucke; great grandchildren, Tara and Emma Hendrickson and Lilly and Ryder Walen; along with several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, a daughter, a great grandson, and a sister.<\/p>\n
