{"id":117266,"date":"2017-03-03T14:35:23","date_gmt":"2017-03-03T20:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=117266"},"modified":"2017-03-03T14:35:23","modified_gmt":"2017-03-03T20:35:23","slug":"stutsman-flu-cases-expected-to-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=117266","title":{"rendered":"Stutsman flu cases expected to rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-35681\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/flushot-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/flushot-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/flushot-259x175.jpg 259w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/flushot.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Bismarck\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Sixty-two cases of the flu in Stutsman County were reported to the North Dakota Department of Health for the week of February 18th, with numbers expected to rise.<\/p>\n<p>JRMC, RN, Nikki Mack says, \u201cWe are seeing an increase of patients in the emergency department with flu- like symptoms.\u00a0 That means the virus is active and in the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mack adds that although the flu is active in the community, there are steps you can take to prevent catching and spreading the virus.<\/p>\n<p>Mack points out that \u201cHand washing is so important in the prevention of flu, make sure you are washing your hands frequently and properly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other ways to prevent spreading the illness are: Frequent hand washing, the current flu vaccination, and avoiding contact with sick people.<\/p>\n<p>The 2016-2017 flu vaccination protects against the four strands of viruses that research suggests will be most common that year.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the flu symptoms can be fever, runny\/stuffy nose, headaches, fever, chill, body aches, cough or fatigue. If you feel any of those symptoms, stay home and rest.<\/p>\n<p>She adds, seek immediate medical attention for your child if they are showing any of the following symptoms: Trouble breathing or fast breathing, bluish skin color, fever with a rash, signs of dehydration. Some additional symptoms to watch for in adults are: Sudden dizziness, confusion, severe vomiting and difficulty breathing.<\/p>\n<p>JRMC Emergency Department Manager Sheila Krapp, says, \u201cThe elderly and infants are particularly vulnerable to the flu, and this year\u2019s strain is no different.
