{"id":119109,"date":"2017-04-05T12:00:14","date_gmt":"2017-04-05T17:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=119109"},"modified":"2017-04-06T07:16:55","modified_gmt":"2017-04-06T12:16:55","slug":"school-board-cuts-position-oakes-school-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=119109","title":{"rendered":"School board cuts position, Oakes school program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4825\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Jmst-public-schools-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Jmst-public-schools-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Jmst-public-schools-259x175.jpg 259w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Jmst-public-schools.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jamestown\u00a0\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 A Special meeting of the Jamestown Public School Board, was held Tuesday, to receive testimony from James Valley Area Career and Technology Center instructors being contemplated for non-renewal.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Public School Board issues contracts for the James Valley Career and Technology Center, as the operating board.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Public Schools Superintendent Robert Lech recommended the Reduction in Force, due to lack of funding and uncertainty of funds.<\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0 the March 28, 2017, meeting, it was determined that there is a need for reduction in force of the three instructors of the James Valley Area Career and Technology Center, and directed the superintendent to determine within the Reduction in Force Policy, which instructors should be contemplated for non-renewal.<\/p>\n<p>A motion was made, and approved unanimously for the board to contemplate the non-renewal of the instructor in the Oakes Farm Business Management program, Lance Brower, and the instructor in the Jamestown Farm Business Management Program, Virgil Dagman.<\/p>\n<p>At this week Tuesday\u2019s Special School Board meeting, the board voted 7-1 to not renew Lance Brower\u2019s contract as instructor of the Oakes Farm Business Management Program. Steve Veldkamp voted in favor of keeping Brower.<\/p>\n<p>The Oakes satellite program of the Farm Business Management Program will not continue past June this year, however the Jamestown program will continue.<\/p>\n<p>The School Board voted 4-4, with rural board member Greg Allen not present, to not renew the contract of \u00a0the instructor of theFarm Business Management program at James Valley Career &amp; Technology Center in Jamestown, Virgil Dagman.
