{"id":119882,"date":"2017-04-17T08:00:53","date_gmt":"2017-04-17T13:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=119882"},"modified":"2017-04-18T10:18:26","modified_gmt":"2017-04-18T15:18:26","slug":"school-board-discusses-college-type-studentsetting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=119882","title":{"rendered":"School Board discusses college-type student setting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-95091\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/SchoolBoard2015filephoto-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" \/>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 On Monday, the Jamestown Public School Board reviewed\u00a0 incorporating a more college-type setting for high school students to better prepare for the future.<\/p>\n<p>School Board members Diane Hanson and Steve Veldkamp addressed their tour of Bismarck\u2019s\u00a0 Legacy High School, one of 16 schools in the nation to use a flexible module schedule similar to staggered college courses instead of the traditional high school setting with all students on a one hour schedule.<\/p>\n<p>The students attend classes at different times to keep the flow small and constant.<\/p>\n<p>Veldkamp said the flexible module high school in Omaha has the highest college entrance examination scores in Nebraska.<\/p>\n<p>Also at the meeting, \u00a0Superintendent Lech said the Citizen&#8217;s Advisory Committee is continuing meeting with designers, builders, faculty and community residents to understand the district needs.<\/p>\n<p>The group is now prioritizing ideas for educational adequacy, facility needs and upgrades for safety, security and a healthy environment, he said.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was recorded by CSi Cable 67 with replays starting Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 On Monday, the Jamestown Public School Board reviewed\u00a0 incorporating a more college-type setting for high school students to better prepare for the future.
