Earl H. Amundson, 92, died peacefully at Ave Marie Village on January 23, 2013.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Earl was born in Jamestown, ND on May 15, 1920 to Oscar and Florence (Loomis) Amundson.\u00a0 He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1938 and attended Jamestown College and Iowa State University graduating from Iowa State in 1943.\u00a0 After graduation he served in the US Army WWII until 1946.\u00a0 He married Nelda VanKeuren on December 21, 1944.\u00a0 They made their home in rural Jamestown where he was a farmer, rancher and businessman.\u00a0 After retirement they wintered in Arizona and Utah.\u00a0 Earl was an avid bowler and golfer and especially enjoyed playing the game of golf with his family and friends.<\/p>\n
Earl is survived by his wife Nelda of 68 years; children, Jane Amundson (Robert Walkinshaw) of Arboles, Colorado and Van (Patricia) Amundson of Jamestown; grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Amundson and Amy (Marty) Walters, all of Jamestown.\u00a0 He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Mason, Jackson, and Edison Walters and Sully Amundson.<\/p>\n
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lenroot Amundson.<\/p>\n
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Ave Marie Village Chapel Fund, Jamestown College Amundson Scholarship, or Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice.<\/p>\n
