{"id":122290,"date":"2017-05-25T16:44:41","date_gmt":"2017-05-25T21:44:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=122290"},"modified":"2017-05-25T16:46:25","modified_gmt":"2017-05-25T21:46:25","slug":"committee-recommends-demolition-nw-jmst-structure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=122290","title":{"rendered":"Committee recommends demolition NW structure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-19308\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-4-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-4-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-4-259x175.jpg 259w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/City-Hall-4.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jamestown \u00a0(CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Council\u2019s Police &amp; Fire and Public Works Committees met Thursday evening at City Hall.\u00a0 Council Member Gumke was not present.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>POLICE AND FIRE COMMITTEE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The committee discussed property at 403 \u00bd 3rd Ave NW.<\/p>\n<p>The City Building Inspector Tom Blackmore said the property has not been attended to, being in disrepair and a hazard.<\/p>\n<p>The property owner had 30 days to respond to a demolition order, by May 23, 2017, which did not occur.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant City Attorney, Abby Geroux said the owner has no resources to demolish the building.\u00a0 She said options include a quit claim deed, and demolishing the property, or a dangerous building order, which requires a hearing, and a three year process.<\/p>\n<p>She said the owner is in a nursing home in Washington State, and his daughter has power of attorney, to take any action.<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends the city issue a quit claim deed, and demolish the property.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends accepting the Grant of Roadway Easement from Lutheran Charity Association d\/b\/a Jamestown Hospital for the south 30.50 feet of the east 890.00 feet of Lot 2, Block 1, Jamestown Hospital Healthcare Campus 2nd Addition, for the amount of $27,145.00.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The committee also recommends accepting the Grant of Roadway Easement from Anne Carlsen Center for the south 10.50 feet of Lot 1, Block 1, Anne Carlsen Center 2nd Subdivision, for the amount of $8,791.00.<\/p>\n<p>The easement is in conjunction with the road to be built between Menards and Jamestown Regional Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends rejecting all bids for the purchase of a New Snow Blower, amending the specifications, and to re-advertise. Concerns stem from specifications not met in the original bid package.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends approval of the plans and specifications for the Raker Building Project.\u00a0 The cost is estimated at $775,000, with the completion deadline of November 15, 2017.\u00a0 The bid award in contingent upon approval of the State Health Department.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends approval of plans and specifications for the 2017 NW Water Main Replacement Project, in the Nickeus Park area.\u00a0 Completion is by November 15, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The area has had a number of water main breaks, including the latest on Thursday this week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends \u00a0establishing a rate of $78.50 per ton for municipal solid waste disposal at the Jamestown Municipal Waste Landfill effective August 1, 2017.\u00a0 City Administrator Jeff Fuchs said the rate adjustment is in lieu of the city\u2019s subsidizing the costs of $220,000 annually, from the solid waste disposal fund.<\/p>\n<p>Discussion was held on layoffs in the sanitation collection department stemming from implementing the Residenial Recycling program.\u00a0 Human Resource Office, Jay Sveum said the topic has been discussed with the employees.<\/p>\n<p>He added it\u2019s not known at this time if Jamestown Recycling may be able to hire the displaced city employees.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends \u00a0introducing the First Reading of an ordinance to amend and re-enact Chapter 16 of the City Code pertaining to solid waste management.\u00a0 The ordinance is in conjunction with the implementation of the Jamestown Residential Recycling program.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was shown live on CSi Cable 67 followed by replays.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown \u00a0(CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Council\u2019s Police &amp; Fire and Public Works Committees met Thursday evening at City Hall.\u00a0 Council Member Gumke was not present. \u00a0 POLICE AND FIRE COMMITTEE: The committee discussed property at 403 \u00bd 3rd Ave NW.
