Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The 2017 rain and wind shortened Stutsman County Relay for Life raised $58,000 with additional donations to be added.<\/p>\n
The 21st Annual event was $27,000 short of its goal of $85,000 for the June 9, 2017 event. The final $25,000 was raised on the night of the event.<\/p>\n
The goal was based on the 2016 total raised of $83,000.<\/p>\n
Leader, Chelsie Francis, says bank deposits \u00a0continue to come in with the final deposit expected by by July 18.<\/p>\n
High winds at the event site of the University of Jamestown\u2019s Taylor Stadium the night of \u00a0June 9th forced the closing of the outdoor silent auction at Taylor Stadium. Lightning and rain forced the event to shut down at 8-p.m., well before the planned midnight end.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 An abbreviated version of the 21st<\/sup> Annual Stutsman County Relay for Life at the U\u00a0of J-\u00a0Taylor Stadium was held Friday June 9. \u00a0Due to severe weather,\u00a0 participants at the Relay For Life were cleared from the field at 8:18 pm Friday, with activities ending early.<\/p>\n Relay for Life Leader, Chelsey Francis says the\u00a0 Taylor Stadium track had over 1,500 luminaries, in memory those who have lost their lives to cancer and those who have survived and those battle the disease.<\/p>\n Windy conditions meant that\u00a0 organizers had to cancel the silent auction after wind blew items off the tables.<\/p>\n The fundraising goal was $85,000, and before the even is was estimated that about\u00a0 $50,000 was raised prior to the relay.<\/p>\n Survivor Don Caine was the speaker for the evening sayings that it’s important to spread the information because cancer touches everyone\u2019s life in one way or another.<\/p>\n
