{"id":123862,"date":"2017-06-21T13:40:32","date_gmt":"2017-06-21T18:40:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=123862"},"modified":"2017-06-21T16:36:07","modified_gmt":"2017-06-21T21:36:07","slug":"tourism-funds-grants-for-arts-trails-and-jda-banners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=123862","title":{"rendered":"Tourism funds grants for Arts, Trails, and JDA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-19315\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/JM-Downtown5-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/JM-Downtown5-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/JM-Downtown5-259x175.jpg 259w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/JM-Downtown5.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Tourism Grant\/Executive Board met Wednesday at the CSi Technolgy Center at Historic Franklin School.<\/p>\n<p>Members present were:\u00a0 Board President Matt Woods, and board members Taylor Barnes, Mitzi Hager, Jenna Bergstedt,\u00a0 and Tena Lawrence.<\/p>\n<p>Grant requests were made by:<\/p>\n<p>Cyndi Wish, who appeared concerning summer staffing, funding with two staff, at the Jamestown Arts Center, requesting the amount of $1,600.<\/p>\n<p>Another source of funding is $720, in-kind.<\/p>\n<p>The board approved \u00a0$1,200 and $400 with the $400 part of the request made in 2016 \u2026the completion of the Hansen Arts Park was delayed and\u00a0 the funds will assist with upcoming summer programming, with an anticipated 4-6 staff members.<\/p>\n<p>A Light Pole Banner funding \u00a0request in the amount of $1,750 was made by the Jamestown Downtown Association represented by Lynn Lambrecht, to replace Welcome Banners, and hardware for historic light poles on First Avenue in Downtown Jamestown.\u00a0 The JDA will supply\u00a0 $1,750 dollars of the funds. The total budget for the project is $3,500.<\/p>\n<p>The Tourism Grant\/Executive Board approved the full amount requested.\u00a0 Matt Woods declared a conflict of interest being affiliated with the JDA and did not vote.<\/p>\n<p>With Trail Kiosks, a\u00a0 request was made for $7,000 presented by Bill Steinmetz of the Stutsman County Park Board, Trail Builders Group.<\/p>\n<p>The Board approved funding at $6,550, noting that the kiosks will provide a visible trailhead landmark for two of Jamestown\u2019s signature\u00a0 trails, Pipestem and Overlook.\u00a0 The kiosks will direct visitors to other trails, attractions and upcoming events.<\/p>\n<p>The Board\u00a0 approved funding the full $1,500 requested for the installation of a bike fix it station at the trailhead of Overlook Bike Path, similar to the station at Pipestem.\u00a0 The total cost for labor and materials installed is $3,280.<\/p>\n<p>In other business:<\/p>\n<p>Executive Director, Searle Swedlund\u2019s requested and was approved unanimously by the board, $4,000 in funding to allow him to participate in the North Dakota Extension Service \u00a0Rural North Dakota Leadership educational program.\u00a0 The program runs for two years.<\/p>\n<p>Old Business:<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Regional Airport&#8217;s previous Grant of $1,000 for the airport&#8217;s advertising kiosk, was approved for re-allocation.\u00a0 The dollars will go to filling in the blank advertising squares with tourism related messages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Tourism Grant\/Executive Board met Wednesday at the CSi Technolgy Center at Historic Franklin School.
