All Members were\u00a0 present.<\/p>\n<p><strong>POLICE AND FIRE COMMITTEE <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The committee again discussed the parking of Recreational Vehicles and trailers on City Streets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">Council Member Buchanan said the issue sparks controversy\u00a0 in the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">Police Chief Scott Edinger said RV\u2019s parked the \u201cwrong way,\u201d has been the main complaint.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">He said the main reason for parking the units in that manner is so the RV\u2019s with doors on the opposite side, and slide outs face toward the boulevard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">Line of sight issues have also been raised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">Edinger added that reflectors placed on the front of the units helps to make them visible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">The Ordinance allows RV\u2019s parked in the street no longer than 14 days if parked in front of their property, and 30 feet back from and intersection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">The committee recommends creating language in the Ordinance to mandate reflectors be placed on the front of backward parking RV\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Informational: Concerning application(s) for appointment to the Fire Board Code of Appeal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Considered an amendment to the agreement for the acceptance of wastewater between GRE, Stutsman Rural Water District and the City Of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">Mayor Andersen said the city is comfortable with the amendment, and all three parties need to be in agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt;\">The committee recommends approval of the amendment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends \u00a0the creation of Northwest Water Main Rehabilitation District No. 17-61. It establishes the creation of a Special Assessment district, and recommends approving \u00a0increases the city\u2019s share of Specials from City Sales Tax dollars.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Considered the bids for the purchase of a new 3 Cubic Yard \u00a0\u2013 4 Wheel Drive Loader for the Street Department.<\/p>\n<p>Two bids were considered.<\/p>\n<p>Titan Machinery:\u00a0 Final of $78,956.<\/p>\n<p>Butler Machinery:\u00a0 Final of $33,675.<\/p>\n<p>The committee moved the bids to the \u00a0August 7, 2017 City Council meeting.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Considered the bids for the purchase of a new two (2) Stage Snow Blower for the Street Department.<\/p>\n<p>Titan Machinery;\u00a0 Final: $86,942.<\/p>\n<p>Northern Truck Equipment Corporation:\u00a0 $92,597.<\/p>\n<p>Two Bids from Swanson for two models at $78,500, and $94,900.<\/p>\n<p>Those bids will be forwarded to the City Council.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Informational: Concerning application(s) for appointment to the Shade Tree Committee, that will be considered at the August 7th City Council meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The committee recommends approving Change Order No. 2, to Border States Paving, Inc., on Seal Coat, Patching, Construction and \u00a0Reconstruction District 17-41, for an increase in the contract price of $29,336.00.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was shown live on CSi Cable 67, followed by replays.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Council\u2019s Police &amp; Fire, and Public Works Committees met Thursday evening at City Hall.
