{"id":127697,"date":"2017-08-24T13:13:45","date_gmt":"2017-08-24T18:13:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=127697"},"modified":"2017-08-24T13:13:45","modified_gmt":"2017-08-24T18:13:45","slug":"tourism-approves-grant-requests-reviews-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=127697","title":{"rendered":"Tourism approves grant requests, reviews  guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-127053\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Tourism-Jamestown-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Tourism-Jamestown-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Tourism-Jamestown-260x175.jpg 260w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Tourism-Jamestown.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Tourism Grant\/Executive Board met Thursday morning at the CSi Technology Center at Historic Franklin School.<\/p>\n<p>Requests were made on behalf of:<\/p>\n<p>Big Guns of the Old West, Fort Seward<\/p>\n<p>Sensory Garden Kiosk, Jamestown Parks and Recreation<\/p>\n<p>Mower purchase, Jamestown Parks and Recreation Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Declaration of Conflict of Interest.<\/p>\n<p>Financial Report:\u00a0 Mitzi Hager.<\/p>\n<p>Tourism Report: Searle Swedlund.<\/p>\n<p>Ex Officio Report.<\/p>\n<p>New Business:<\/p>\n<p>Grant Request allocation:<\/p>\n<p>Under Events, the Board granted the request from Fort Seward for the Big Guns of the Old West event, on September 9, 2017, in the amount of $1,000 for advertising to promote the Gatling Gun Demonstration.<\/p>\n<p>The estimated economic impact is $5,000 with the attendance around 100 people.<\/p>\n<p>Under Capital Construction Fund allocations:<\/p>\n<p>The board heard a request from the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Foundation of $3,800 to help cover cost of Kiosk signage project at the Sensory Garden Park at\u00a0 Solien DeNault Park, on Parks and Recreation property.\u00a0 The cost installed is $3,680.\u00a0 Maintenance will be by the Parks and Recreation Department.<\/p>\n<p>Other funding sources are: Jamestown Park Foundation in the amount of $10,000, Private Naming Rights $10,500, and the Jamestown Community Foundation in the amount of $5,000.<\/p>\n<p>The board recommends funding in the amount of $3,800.<\/p>\n<p>The Board heard a request\u00a0 from the Stutsman County Trail Builder Group for a commercial grade mower for hiking and biking trails in the amount of $5,699.<\/p>\n<p>The Board recommends funding in the full amount of $5,699.<\/p>\n<p>Parks and Rec will maintain the machine and employ the operator to maintain three of the five signature trails at White Cloud, North Ridge and Pipestem.<\/p>\n<p>The Board reviewed the Event Grant Guidelines, with board members suggesting any changes or additions.<\/p>\n<p>Major areas included in the discussion were:<\/p>\n<p>Advertising, Engaging Community Events, Bringing visitors to the community, and economic impact, and starting something new.<\/p>\n<p>The board also reviewed the community and mission oriented event grants.<\/p>\n<p>No decisions on possible changes or additions were made at the meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Tourism Grant\/Executive Board met Thursday morning at the CSi Technology Center at Historic Franklin School.
