{"id":136645,"date":"2018-01-16T17:26:22","date_gmt":"2018-01-16T23:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=136645"},"modified":"2018-01-16T17:26:22","modified_gmt":"2018-01-16T23:26:22","slug":"city-commission-agrees-to-lawsuit-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=136645","title":{"rendered":"City Commission agrees to lawsuit settlement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-119135\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/VCcom-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/VCcom-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/VCcom-260x175.jpg 260w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/VCcom.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Valley City Commission met in Regular Session, Tuesday evening at City Hall.\u00a0 All members were present.<\/p>\n<p>SWEARING IN OF POLICE OFFICER MATTHEW KNIGHT<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><b><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA ITEM:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">A raffle permit application for Chamber of Commerce, Tony Kramers Fundraiser &amp; Gun Raffle <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>PUBLIC COMMENTS:\u00a0 \u00a0NO ONE SPOKE.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>RESOLUTION <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Commissioners\u00a0 approved a Resolution to Create a Fee for Special Alcohol Server Training.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NEW BUSINESS <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Approved an application for conditional use permit for Open Door Center for production and packaging of popcorn .<\/p>\n<p>The City Commission discussed a possible joint meeting with Barnes County Commission and Valley City Public Schools.\u00a0 Mayor Carlsrud said topics scheduled to be discussed include the opioid crisis, along with Barnes County Jail issues.<\/p>\n<p>The consensus of the Commissioners was to agree.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Commissioners\u00a0 approve rescheduling of the March Finance &amp; Commission meetings to Thursday, March 8.\u00a0 City Administrator Schelkoph the original date of March 6 was in conflict with a League of Cities meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Approved authority to transfer to local agent for Valley City Retirement Plan.\u00a0 City Administrator Schelkoph said the city was dissatisfied with the former Retirement Plan local agent.<\/p>\n<p>Approved a Preliminary &amp; Design Engineering Agreement for Permanent Flood Protection Phase IV \u2013 Segments 12, 13 &amp; 14 with KLJ in an amount not to exceed $875,775.<\/p>\n<p>City Administrator David Schelkoph said the agreement will put the phase, shovel ready, in light of an increase in oil extraction dollars, leading to more dollars available from the State Water Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioners approved a \u00a0settlement agreement in Lindberg v. City of Valley City.\u00a0 The terms of the settlement were not announced at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CITY ADMINISTRATOR\u2019S REPORT:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>David Schelkoph reported updates from the State Water Commission concerning the cost-share agreement with Valley City with a recent meeting bringing clarity to the issue. \u00a0He added there is no final agreement at this time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>CITY UPDATES &amp; COMMISSION REPORTS <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Commissioner Pedersen said he spoke with Governor Burgum, concerning the Main Street Initiative.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Carlsrud cautioned motorists to use caution on icy streets especially at stop intersections.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was shown live on CSi 68 followed by replays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Valley City Commission met in Regular Session, Tuesday evening at City Hall.\u00a0 All members were present.
