\"\"<\/a>Charles Allen Purdy, 86, of Jamestown, passed away at the Veterans Home in Fargo, ND on January 24, 2018.\u00a0 Charles Purdy was born June 19, 1931 to Irvin and Lillian (Oberg) Purdy in Kenmare, ND.\u00a0 He graduated from Kenmare Highschool and went on to study at Bethel College in St. Paul, MN for two years.\u00a0 In 1952 he transferred to the University of North Dakota where he majored in Business and pledged Sigma Chi Fraternity, and where he met Lucie Rodenberg of New Rockford, ND; it was love at first sight!<\/p>\n

Chuck joined the Army and took Basic Training in Fort Leonardwood, MO, where he and Lucie were married May 8, 1954.\u00a0 He served his country at Fort Belvoir, VA and at Fort Carson, CO.\u00a0 In 1957 he was sent to Seoul, Korea.\u00a0 In 1958 he was mustered out and they moved to Valley City, ND where he worked for JC Penney.\u00a0 From there they moved to Fargo and eventually settled in New Rockford where he owned Purdy\u2019s Shop for Men.\u00a0 After closing the men\u2019s shop, Chuck was Director of Tax Equilization for Eddy, Foster, and Stutsman Counties.<\/p>\n

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, John; Chuck is survived by his wife, Lucie, and 5 children: Rolf (Sue) of Jamestown; Meg Ryberg (Mark) of Foley, MN; Mark of St. Louis Park, MN; Scott (Sheila) of Independence, KY; and Carla St. Germain (Randy) of Fargo; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.<\/p>\n

Visitation: <\/strong><\/em>9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home.<\/em><\/p>\n

Funeral Service: <\/strong><\/em>10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.<\/em><\/p>\n

Burial: <\/strong><\/em>2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the North Dakota Veteran\u2019s Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
