(CSi)\u00a0 The\u00a0 Area Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Banquet Thursday January 25 at the Quality Inn & Suites in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

\"\"The 2017 Citizen of the Year<\/strong> recipient is Barb Lang<\/strong>, with the award presented by Felicia Sargeant, from the \u00a0Anne Carlson Center.<\/p>\n

Her nomination letter stated in part:\u00a0 \u201cBarb has served on Chamber Committees, and was Chamber President in 1995, and continues her work in the community by chairing the Jamestown Community Foundation.<\/p>\n

Barb also has been active in working with on the Jamestown Residential Recycling project, along with the James River cleanup, project.<\/p>\n

Barb also serves on the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse Committee, and she\u2019s been a member of the American Association of University Women, Jamestown Chapter, along with supporting the Jamestown Arts Center through the AAUW.<\/p>\n

The Chamber solicited nominations from the community, that were reviewed, for:\u00a0 The Young Professional of the Year, Business of the Year, the Above and Beyond Award, for volunteerism, and The Citizen of the Year Award.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The 2017 Above and Beyond<\/strong> recipient is Deb Lee<\/strong>, who manages the Dakota Store and was responsible for the RSVP program in Jamestown for many years.<\/p>\n

During the presentation of the award, it was stated that:\u00a0\u00a0 Deb has served many volunteer roles over the years. \u00a0Deb and her family have provided our community with many opportunities over the years.\u00a0\u00a0 Her previous position gave her the chance to work with community members of all ages but especially those that were retired or had extra time on their hands.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Her region covered 8 counties where she oversaw programs of foster grandparents, sporting event hosts and ticket takers, greeters, and bell ringers and the Dakota Store.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 When short on help you can find her covering shifts or making runs for our Dakota Made products.<\/p>\n

Additional Award presentations included:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The Young Professional of the Year, \u00a0Warren Abrahamson<\/strong>, who works at i3G Media, formerly Ingstad Media as their news reporter.<\/p>\n

The Young Professionals of Jamestown group of the chamber, put forward his selection.\u00a0 The award was presented by Searle Swedlund, who nominated Warren.<\/p>\n

The 2017 Business of the Year<\/strong> award recipient is Stutsman Harley-Davidson<\/strong>, presented by Lindsey Vogel from Witthauer Financial, the YPJ president.<\/p>\n

She said, Stutsman Harley-Davidson is a great example of a business that truly cares about not only customers, but the community it\u2019s customers and employees live in.<\/p>\n

Four City Beautification Awards were presented at the annual banquet.\u00a0 They are:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Spot of Beauty \u2013 To Jerry\u2019s Furniture<\/strong> and to The Arts Park<\/strong><\/p>\n

Continuing Landscaping \u2013 The Seventh Day Adventist church<\/strong><\/p>\n

New Landscaping \u2013 To the Kornovich Healing Garden<\/strong> at JRMC<\/p>\n

Entertainment for the evening was ventriloquist Kevin Horner.<\/p>\n
