{"id":137930,"date":"2018-02-05T09:58:30","date_gmt":"2018-02-05T15:58:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=137930"},"modified":"2018-02-05T10:09:26","modified_gmt":"2018-02-05T16:09:26","slug":"mayor-andersen-updates-residential-recycling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=137930","title":{"rendered":"Mayor Andersen updates residential recycling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-48348\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Mayor-Andersen-2014-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Mayor-Andersen-2014-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Mayor-Andersen-2014-259x175.jpg 259w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Mayor-Andersen-2014.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Mayor Katie Andersen says Residential Recycling in Jamestown is still moving forward for implementation in the next few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 she said the goal of recycler, Ralph Friebel is to have the recycling carts delivered by February 12<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0\u00a0 However, she pointed out that while the temperatures remain unseasonably cold, the distribution may be delay until the temps warm up.<\/p>\n<p>She added the city has implemented the default option on his contract on February 1<sup>st<\/sup>, however Friebel has a 60 day extension to implement residential recycling until the about the end of March this year.<\/p>\n<p>She added that Friebel is awaiting final word on financing to move the recycling center to the former Coke plant in Jamestown.\u00a0 In the meantime the present location of the Recycling Center has returned to its former hours.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Andersen pointed out that the city as of December 31<sup>st<\/sup>, is no longer providing a subsidy to the recycler.<\/p>\n<p>In other city update\u2019s Mayor Andersen said the City Council has approved hiring Sarah Helleckson as the new City Administrator, effective February 20<sup>th<\/sup> this year.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Helleckson has been the solid waste coordinator for the city of Plymouth, Minnesota, who previously withdrew her candidacy, and was re-contacted by the search committee, to come in for an interview.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Andersen said Ms. Helleckson is an attorney, adding that her background will be an asset in her position as City Administrator.<\/p>\n<p>City Administrator Jeff Fuchs remains in a half time position until the end of March assisting with the transition.<\/p>\n<p>His original retirement date was December 31, 2017, however as a search for his successor took longer than planned he agreed to stay on.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor added that Fuchs could be retained after March 31 \u00a0to assist in other projects that he\u2019s familiar with.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Andersen said the recent public meeting concerning proposed traffic flow changes in Downtown Jamestown was well attended.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the presentation included the New Jersey Road Diet Video<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lm_zrAfRj20\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lm_zrAfRj20<\/a> which outline how a similar project took place, there.<\/p>\n<p>She added that written comments are being accepted until February 15<sup>th<\/sup> to:<\/p>\n<p>Travis Dillman, City Engineer, 102 3rd Ave. NE, Jamestown, ND 58401 or by email at <a href=\"mailto:travis.dillman@interstateeng.com\">travis.dillman@interstateeng.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She added that the City of Jamestown will apply for a grant from the North Dakota Department of Transportation to cover the majority of costs, if the project is approved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Mayor Katie Andersen says Residential Recycling in Jamestown is still moving forward for implementation in the next few weeks.
