\"\"<\/a>Leona Martha (Gums) Daede, 90, passed away Monday, March 5 at Eventide Jamestown, ND<\/p>\n

Leona was born April 4, 1927 in Medina, ND to Christ E. and Elizabeth (Heiser) Gums.\u00a0 She graduated Valedictorian from Medina High School and Valley City State College with a B.S. in Elementary Education and minors in Library Science and Social Science.\u00a0 She taught 8 \u00bd years in rural and Jamestown schools.\u00a0 She was the director of the Stutsman County Library for 14 years.<\/p>\n

She married Waldemar Daede on December 28, 1952 at the English Lutheran Church in Medina.\u00a0 They lived on a farm in Homer Township SE of Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Leona served on the Homer township school board for 5 years and the Jamestown school board for 7 years.\u00a0 She was a member of Homer Homemakers, Willing Workers Homemakers, and a 4-H club leader for 8 years.<\/p>\n

She was a member of St. John\u2019s Lutheran Church in Jamestown.\u00a0 Her faith was very important to her.\u00a0 She taught Sunday and Bible School and was a member of a Circle.<\/p>\n

Leona is survived by children Jolene (Terry) Baltrusch, Jamestown; Ron (Laura) Daede, Rochester, MN; grandchildren Kristen (Michael) Kosir, Fargo; Brad Baltrusch, Roseville, MN; Rebecca Baltrusch, Fargo; Thomas Daede, Sunnyvale, CA; Elizabeth Daede, Rochester, MN; and great grandchild Colin Kosir, Fargo.<\/p>\n

She was preceded in death by her husband Wally, parents, siblings Viola Carlson, Vernon \u201cBill\u201d Gums, Arlene Kramer, Joyce Olson, and Christ \u201cJerry\u201d Gums, Jr.<\/p>\n

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, March 9 at St. John\u2019s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Erik Weber, officiating.<\/p>\n

Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 8 at Eddy Funeral Home.<\/p>\n
