\"\"<\/a>James Douglas Christ (Jim), Jamestown’s #1 Sports Fan, passed away after a brief illness on June 4, 2018 with some of his biggest fans by his side.<\/p>\n

Jim was born in Jamestown on April 17, 1950 to Ruby (Titsworth) and Wallace Christ. He attended the Anne Carlsen School. As a young man he worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and recently Jamestown High as hall monitor.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n

With the help of family and friends Jim was able to do what he loved best: attend thousands of sporting events. He was also active with the Elks, Roaming Buffalo Campers, and Jimmie Boosters. He brought out the good in people who knew and cared for him and he was grateful.<\/p>\n

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Charles and Virginia, step-father Robert Conitz, an aunt, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n

Memorials may be sent to the family in care of Jodi Bunde, 503 3rd Ave. NE, Jamestown, to be disbursed to Jim’s favorite charities.<\/p>\n

Celebration of Life: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Jamestown High School Gymnasium, Jamestown, ND.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Visitation: 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Jim Christ,\u00a0Jamestown’s #1 Sports Fan, passed away while listening to a baseball game on Monday, June 4\u00a0with some of his biggest fans by his side.Born on April 17, 1950 to Ruby\u00a0and Wally Christ, “Jimmie” was beloved baby brother to Chuck and Ginny.\u00a0 Because he had Cerebral Palsy, he\u00a0got around with crutches and later in a wheel chair–and got around he did!\u00a0 He tagged along with his older siblings as they played and later\u00a0accompanied them\u00a0on their\u00a0dates.\u00a0\u00a0He fished with his beloved great-grandfather “Bepa,” attended Anne Carlsen School and worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company with his dad and brother. \u00a0 He camped and travelled with his mother and step-father, Bob Conitz.\u00a0 Most recently he worked at Jamestown Senior High as hall monitor.<\/p>\n

And\u00a0with the help of his family and friends too numerous to count,\u00a0he was able to do what he loved best: \u00a0attend\u00a0thousands upon thousands\u00a0of sporting events.\u00a0\u00a0Jim is legendary in his role as #1 Sports Fan and was very proud to be acquainted with coaches and referees, players, cheerleaders and other fans all over the state.\u00a0 He got a big kick out of visiting with folks court side and at\u00a0Jack Brown Stadium–as long as you didn’t block his view of the game!\u00a0 He carried out his duty as sideline coach so well that his nurse (a University of Jamestown graduate) at Sanford Hospital\u00a0in Fargo recognized the Jimmie Booster\u00a0and said, “He’s the one that always shouted ‘Bend your knees!’\u00a0at the\u00a0Jimmie basketball games!” \u00a0He was also a hot shot at his beloved Minnesota Twins games and\u00a0had the honor of throwing out the\u00a0opening\u00a0baseball with Darin Erstad.<\/p>\n

Jim was\u00a0a big fan of car races and\u00a0was thrilled to be\u00a0invited to go for a spin with a few racers, including his nephews.\u00a0 \u00a0He just loved to be where the action was!\u00a0 He could stay out late, get up early and spend the entire weekend at races and tournaments–nothing made him happier.<\/p>\n

Jim had been a\u00a0member of the Elks and the Roaming\u00a0Buffalos Campers.\u00a0 He travelled to California many times to visit relatives, most recently in 2017 to attend his aunt Charlotte’s\u00a0100th birthday party. \u00a0 He attended Spring\u00a0Training\u00a0games in Arizona with his sister and visited Hawaii with his mother and brother.\u00a0 He was remarkable in his ability to show up and cheer on friends and family at their important life\u00a0events–he was our biggest fan, too.<\/p>\n

Jim\u00a0was full of enthusiasm and interested in goings-on.\u00a0 He loved a juicy story and had many good ones to tell himself.\u00a0 He laughter was also legendary and would it would burst\u00a0forth\u00a0during a story he was telling,\u00a0and he would be so overcome\u00a0that he’d have to try very hard\u00a0to calm himself\u00a0down in order to finish the story.\u00a0 This joyful struggle was so hilarious\u00a0to behold that when the story finally did come out it, wasn’t nearly as funny as\u00a0the telling of it!\u00a0 Jim\u00a0brought out so much good in the people who knew him and\u00a0cared for him.\u00a0 So many, many people gave him a hand\u00a0and cheered\u00a0him<\/em>\u00a0on.\u00a0 He knew this and was grateful for it.\u00a0 He will be so greatly missed.\u00a0 We were lucky to have him in our family and community,\u00a0Jim Christ’s #1 Fans.<\/p>\n

The family is very appreciative of the community for\u00a0being\u00a0an extended\u00a0family to Jim. \u00a0Without every little\u00a0thing you did for him, from putting a straw in his Coke, to opening a door, to giving him a ride to games, he could not have lived the exciting life he did. \u00a0So thank you very, very much! \u00a0We would also like to acknowledge Eventide Senior Living Community\u00a0for welcoming him into their community and allowing him the freedom to get out and go to game after game after game after game…..!<\/p>\n
