cookies provided by Hugo\u2019s<\/p>\n<p>There will be informal walk-thrus of the library, with posters showing pictures of the renovation progress.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, James River Valley Library Systems\u2019 Director Joe Rector pointed out work during renovation process this past summer, noting projects that have been finished, are underway, and a few that will be finished in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Rector said, the process of renovating Alfred Dickey Library began in late 2014 &#8211; after the library ballot measure fell short that would have expanded ADPL.<\/p>\n<p>Board instructed him to work on making the most of the library.<\/p>\n<p>He said in previous years, work included replacing the roof, and installed LED lighting, refurbished the front doors, and built some shelving.<\/p>\n<p>Interior redesign featuring new carpet, wall covering, paint, &amp; re-imagining our space to make more room for our patrons.<\/p>\n<p>The renovations were needed to \u00a0solidify the exterior, including new roof and foundation repair to prevent water from coming in.<\/p>\n<p>When major problems were discovered with the condition of the foundation of the library, work started on the<strong> c<\/strong>oncrete that was flaking apart; which contained shale &amp; sand 2 inches deep.<\/p>\n<p>Workers applied a concrete product called GeoCrete to properly support the building<\/p>\n<p>Installed was, steel angle to support the brickwork<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Major projects that have been completed this past summer included:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Carpet, paint, wallcovering, new shelves, including moveable shelves in children\u2019s area<\/p>\n<p>Complete re-imagining of the children\u2019s area<\/p>\n<p>Excavation of the \u00a0foundation, removing bad concrete, installing sump pumps, and drain tile<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Businesses involved in the project included:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>JLG Architects from Fargo<\/p>\n<p>Nill Construction, general contractor<\/p>\n<p>Magnum Electric<\/p>\n<p>Decorating by Charlie<\/p>\n<p>Scherbenske\u2019s<\/p>\n<p>Schubert\u2019s Carpet One<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown P&amp;H<\/p>\n<p>S&amp;S Cabinets<\/p>\n<p>Home Design Center<\/p>\n<p>Advantage Electric<\/p>\n<p>And others\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Remaining renovation work to be done includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new sign with a message board &amp;
