In Women’s Soccer on Thursday, the University of Jamestown defeated Briar Cliff,\u00a0 4 to 1.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (uj,edu)\u00a0 Lateasha Hughes<\/a> (SR\/Minot, N.D.)’ 53rd minute goal broke a 1-all tie and Nicole Morrison<\/a> (JR\/Idaho Falls, Idaho) scored twice later in the half as the University of Jamestown women’s soccer team defeated Briar Cliff (Iowa) University 4-1 Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Sophie Bales<\/a> (JR\/Camarillo, Calif.) tallied the first goal of the match in the fourth minute to give UJ an early 1-0 lead. That scoreline held until Briar Cliff’s Taylor Beaulieu scored in the 35th minute to make it a 1-1 game.<\/p>\n

Following Hughes’ go-ahead goal, Morrison found the net in the 60th minute on assists from Claire Struble<\/a> (FR\/Murrieta, Calif.) and Gabriella Diarte<\/a> (JR\/North Ogden, Utah), then gave the Jimmies a 4-1 lead on an unassisted marker in the 65th minute.<\/p>\n

Lauren Sayler<\/a> (SR\/Bismarck, ND) had four saves for UJ, who improved to 7-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in Great Plains Athletic Conference action. Briar Cliff lost its first GPAC match of the season and had a three-game winning streak snapped. The Chargers are now 7-5-1 overall and 6-1-0 in the GPAC.<\/p>\n
