View the online memorial here<\/a>.<\/p>\nA memorial service for Darlene R. Johnson, 88, Valley City, ND, will be held at the Sheyenne Care Center Chapel on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 10:30 AM. Burial will be later in the spring at Memory Gardens, near Valley City.<\/p>\n
Darlene Ruth Johnson was born April 12, 1930 to Charles and Gleva (Coates) Smith in Hope, ND.<\/p>\n
She attended school in Clifford, ND.<\/p>\n
On August 25, 1948, she married Conrad “Sonny” Johnson.<\/p>\n
They farmed east of Hope, later moving into Hope, then to Fargo, ND and finally to Valley City, ND.<\/p>\n
Darlene worked for Singer Sewing Co. and later Valley Meat Supply.<\/p>\n
Conrad died November 1, 2016.<\/p>\n
She entered the Sheyenne Care Center on October 27, 2016.<\/p>\n
She was a long-time member of the Eagles Auxiliary and was always there for hamburger night.<\/p>\n
She liked to sew, do puzzles and read.<\/p>\n
Darlene passed away at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City on January 30, 2019 with her family by her side.<\/p>\n
She is survived by her five children, sons, Gary (Janice) and Greg; daughters, Ruth (Bruce) Batsch, Rose (Mark) Hatcher, and Lyla Grieger; eight grandchildren, Shelby Goodwin, Cody Johnson, Casey (Daniel) Triebold, Jodie (Erick) Nelson, Jennie (Brandon) Darby, Justin Hatcher, Nicole (Jeremy) Mesinger, Brittany (Kyle Cuypers) Grieger; 20 great grandchildren; a brother, Duane (Cheryl) Smith; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Erdman and Marlys (Bill) Jacobson; a brother-in-law, Ron Knight; many nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Frances Olstad.<\/p>\n
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and four brothers.<\/p>\n
