{"id":164915,"date":"2019-02-15T09:25:51","date_gmt":"2019-02-15T15:25:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=164915"},"modified":"2019-02-15T14:48:19","modified_gmt":"2019-02-15T20:48:19","slug":"nddot-snow-plows-hit-southeast-nd-february-4-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=164915","title":{"rendered":"NDDOT Snow Plows Hits \u2013 Southeast ND Feb 4-15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fargo, ND \u2013 Since February 4<sup>th<\/sup>, there have been six incidents in the southeast portion of North Dakota involving NDDOT snow plows.\u00a0 Five of the incidents occurred on I-94 and one on I-29.\u00a0 The incidents are described below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On February 4<sup>th<\/sup> at approximately 5:15 am, a NDDOT snow plow was actively removing snow from eastbound I-94 near MM 285, about 5 miles west of Valley City. The snow plow was removing snow from the right lane and shoulder of eastbound I-94.\u00a0 While traveling east, the snow plow struck an abandoned two axle trailer.\u00a0 The trailer had been abandoned the previous evening because of a tire issue.\u00a0 Warning devices were not present notifying passing traffic of trailers location, nor was law enforcement notified the trailer had been abandoned.\u00a0 Snow and blowing snow at the time of the crash obscured the trailer from the snow plow operators view.\u00a0 No one was injured in the crash.<\/li>\n<li>On February 4<sup>th<\/sup> at approximately 2:08 pm, a NDDOT snow plow was actively removing snow from eastbound I-94 near MM 289, about 1 mile west of Valley City. The snow plow was traveling in the left lane of eastbound I-94.\u00a0 There was blowing and drifting snow at the time.\u00a0 A 2009 Saturn Vue came upon the snow plow and rear ended the snow plow.\u00a0 The crash resulted in no injuries.\u00a0 The driver of the Saturn, Briana Benedict, 19 YOA, Fargo, ND, was cited for Care Required.<\/li>\n<li>On February 6<sup>th<\/sup> at approximately 9:19 pm, a NDDOT snow plow towing a tow plow was clearing the eastbound I-94 Exit 350 off-ramp (25<sup>th<\/sup> Exit \u2013 Fargo). The snow plow was in the left turn lane of the exit ramp and the tow plow was in the center lane.\u00a0 While the snow plow operator was waiting at the red light at the intersection, a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Corey Bennington, 43 YOA, Fargo, ND, drove around the tow plow and stopped in front of it in the center lane of the exit ramp.\u00a0 The snow plow operator could not see the Chevrolet beside him.\u00a0 When the light turned green, the snow plow operator began to proceed and the tow plow struck the Chevrolet.\u00a0 There were no injuries in the crash.<\/li>\n<li>On February 12<sup>th<\/sup> at approximately 3:00 pm, a NDDOT snow was clearing snow on I-29 near MM 1 at the South Dakota border when it was rear ended by another vehicle. The Richland County Sheriff\u2019s Office investigated this crash.\u00a0 More information on the crash can be provided by them.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>On February 14<sup>th<\/sup> at approximately 11:05 pm, a NDDOT snow plow was clearing snow at the I-94 Exit 347 (Veteran\u2019s Blvd) westbound off-ramp. A snow plow was clearing snow from the off-ramp near the intersection with Veteran\u2019s Blvd.\u00a0 The snow plow operator was attempting to reverse on the off-ramp to clear additional snow near the intersection.\u00a0 Unbeknownst to the snow plow operator, a 2006 Ford Freestar van came to a stop behind the snow plow, instead of going around the snow plow.\u00a0 When the snow plow operator began to back up, the snow plow struck the front of the Ford.\u00a0 There were no injuries in the crash.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>On February 15<sup>th<\/sup> at approximately 12:30 am, a NDDOT snow plow and NDDOT front-end loader were working in tandem on the I-94 Exit 347 (Veteran\u2019s Blvd) overpass. The snow plow was in front of the front-end loader clearing snow from the right turn lane on the southbound roadway of the overpass.\u00a0 The front-end loader was behind the pickup, providing traffic control.\u00a0 A Mazda 6, driven by Kacie Hagen, 28 YOA, Fargo, ND, was southbound on Veteran\u2019s Blvd.\u00a0 She failed to observe the front-end loader and rear ended it.\u00a0 Kacie was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and cited for Open Container and Use of a Wireless Device (Texting While Driving).\u00a0 There were no injuries in the crash.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The NDHP would remind motorists to give NDDOT snow plows the space necessary to safely remove the snow and ice from our roadways.\u00a0 Numerous snow plows have been struck statewide this year.\u00a0 NDDOT snow plows and other snow removal equipment have emergency lighting to make traffic aware of their location.<\/p>\n<p>Blowing snow and snow fog may obscure these lights and the NDDOT equipment at times.\u00a0 Always slow down when approaching a snow plow and pass safely when you are can clearly see around the snow plow and the snow plow operator would be able see you.\u00a0 If your vision is obscured by the snow fog a plow is creating, stay back, slow your speed, turn on your hazard lights and wait for the plow operator to pull over to allow traffic to pass.\u00a0 Don\u2019t ever blindly drive into a snow fog without slowing down.\u00a0 In addition, do not become distracted while driving and never drink and drive.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fargo, ND \u2013 Since February 4th, there have been six incidents in the southeast portion of North Dakota involving NDDOT snow plows.\u00a0 Five of the incidents occurred on I-94 and one on I-29.\u00a0 The incidents are described below: On February 4th at approximately 5:15 am, a NDDOT snow plow was [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":134370,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[25,35],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-164915","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-featured","category-state"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/164915","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=164915"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/164915\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":164955,"href":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/164915\/revisions\/164955"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/134370"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=164915"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=164915"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=164915"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
