\"\"<\/a>Valley City\u00a0 (NDHP)\u00a0 The North Dakota highway Patrol reports an engine fire in a semi truck at 10:19-p.m, Saturday on I-94 at mile marker 293, near Valley City caused extensive damage to a Kenworth truck and trailer,\u00a0while closing the interstate.<\/p>\n

The report says, the semi was traveling westbound on I 94 when the driver, 48 year old Chad Borst of Sacred Heart, Minnesota, \u00a0heard a pop in the engine.\u00a0He pulled over and could see flames coming out of the engine area by the front tires. The fire spread quickly through the truck and into the food service trailer.<\/p>\n

The truck, trailer and load were consumed by the fire.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I 94 westbound had to be closed for 2 hours while the fire was being dealt with. Traffic was re-routed through Valley City when law enforcement arrived on scene.\u00a0 The driver was not injured in the fire.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n

Assisting at the scene were, the Barnes County Sheriff\u00a0 office, Valley City Police, the\u00a0Valley City Fire Department and Rescue and the North Dakota Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n
