2019 NAIA Women’s Wrestling National Invitational Ticket Prices<\/strong> Doors open\/tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. both Friday and Saturday<\/p>\n Schedule:<\/strong><\/p>\n 10 a.m.\u00a0<\/strong> 6 p.m.\u00a0<\/strong> 6:30 p.m.\u00a0<\/strong> 10 a.m.\u00a0<\/strong> 6 p.m.\u00a0<\/strong> 7 p.m.\u00a0<\/strong> <\/p>\n KANSAS CITY, M.O. (NAIA) \u2013 Jamestown will host the 2019 NAIA Women\u2019s Wrestling Invitational, the national office announced on Wednesday. The invitational will be held on March 15-16, 2019.<\/p>\n The NAIA added women\u2019s wrestling as an invitational sport beginning the 2018-2019 academic year after the National Administrative Council (NAC) unanimously approved the motion at the NAIA National Convention in Kansas City, Mo., in April 2018.<\/p>\n The NAIA is the first intercollegiate athletics association to officially recognize women\u2019s wrestling.<\/p>\n \u201cThe NAIA is thrilled to have the University of Jamestown host the 2019 Women\u2019s Wrestling National Invitational,\u201d said \u00a0Jim Carr, NAIA president\u00a0and\u00a0CEO. \u201cThis is a milestone event for women\u2019s wrestling and we are confident that Jamestown will deliver an exceptional experience for student-athletes, coaches, and fans.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe University of Jamestown looks forward to hosting this tournament,\u201d University of Jamestown President Dr. Polly Peterson said.\u00a0 \u201cWe have been committed to women\u2019s wrestling for a decade and are pleased that it is now an NAIA sport.\u00a0 The University and the Jamestown community look forward to welcoming the athletes and their fans.\u00a0 The University is appreciative of the support and participation that it received from the community as we moved through the site selection process.\u201d<\/p>\n Harold Newman Arena will be the site for the event.\u00a0 The $16 million building opened September 29, 2017, and has already been the host to a college conference basketball championship tournament, high school regional basketball game, and many\u00a0state, local and regional events.\u00a0 The 61,000 square foot facility features a private meeting room overlooking the floor, which combined with the lobby, can seat 350 people.\u00a0 There are 8 locker rooms, two concession stands, a game day athletic training room and conference room.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are proud to host the first NAIA Women\u2019s Wrestling National Invitational,\u201d Jamestown Director of Athletics Sean Johnson said.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s a terrific opportunity to showcase Harold Newman Arena, our community and our state.\u00a0 This is the sixth NAIA wrestling national championship we\u2019ve hosted here in Jamestown and one of the big reasons is our strong wrestling community.\u00a0 By hosting this event, we hope to grow women\u2019s wrestling in our state and region.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Harold Newman Arena is connected by a hallway to a brand new, state of the art athletic training center and the school\u2019s 6,000 square foot wrestling room, recently renovated 5,500 square foot weight training center with adjacent locker room space.<\/p>\n Twenty-five NAIA institutions \u2013 including Jamestown \u2014 are anticipated to field women\u2019s wrestling teams during the 2018-2019 season, up from 19 the year prior.
