Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Season #20\u00a0\u00a0Presents, Nam Sabir: \u201cRestaurateur: A business and a life.\u201d March 21, 2019, 7:00PM at the Barnes County Museum.<\/p>\n
Nam Sabir worked in his father\u2019s restaurant business since he was 12 years old and always wanted a restaurant of his own.\u00a0 He established Sabir\u2019s Fine Dining in 1996 in the basement of Valley City\u2019s Elks Club and three years later expanded to its current restaurant location.\u00a0 Today he is also the owner of Sabir\u2019s Buffalo Grill in Jamestown.\u00a0 Owning a restaurant, being involved in its fiscal operation as well as day to day operation, is a challenge that encompasses all aspects of one\u2019s life.\u00a0 Duties, responsibilities, success, and challenges, after many years of being a Restaurateur, Nam will share the stories of his life\u2019s vocation and professional calling.<\/p>\n
After leaving Kurdish Iraq in 1976 to live in Germany Nam came to New York in 1979 and was faced with a decision to either locate in Fargo, North Dakota, to be with other relocated Kurdish people or be put on a waiting list to be placed at some time in the future.\u00a0\u00a0 Taking a chance on the unknown, he came to Fargo and graduated from Moorhead State University with a degree in computer information.\u00a0 After a few years of exploring the country, Nam decided the Midwest was the best place to be Nam is married to Ameera and they now reside in Valley City.<\/p>\n
