\"\"Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0<\/strong> With recent matching donations of up to $7,500, even a small donation can make a big difference.<\/p>\n

The Kiwanis Against Hunger meal-packaging hopes to raise $15,000 and package 60,000 meals – October 26 at Stutsman Harley.\u00a0 Each meal costs 25 cents and includes rice, soy, dried vegetables and flavoring.<\/p>\n

Tim Perkins, Kiwanis Against Hunger co-chair,\u00a0 says, \u201cFor each quarter donated, we can fill two tummies. There\u2019s no better way to make a difference. Even a small donation can help a lot of people.\u201d<\/p>\n

In eight years, the 45 or so members of Jamestown Kiwanis have raised $276,000 and packed 1.2 million meals.<\/p>\n

Angela Martini, Kiwanis Against Hunger co-chair, says, \u201cAbout one-third of North Dakota students rely on free and reduced lunches at school. But what do they do on evenings and weekends? Kiwanis Against Hunger provides them with easy-to-make nutritious meals.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year, all meals stay in North Dakota and Moorhead, Minn. as part of the Great Plains Food Bank.<\/p>\n

Martini said she\u2019s grateful to the individuals who\u2019ve made the $7,500 match possible.<\/p>\n

She adds, \u201cThe generosity of this community is humbling. ‘<\/p>\n

Kiwanis is a service club dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time. New members are always welcome.<\/p>\n
