Wave of Light is an international event, recognized in six countries.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s event is held on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at St. John\u2019s Lutheran Church in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>A registered nurse at Jamestown Regional Medical Center\u2019s Family BirthPlace Renae Lunde, and an event organizer, says, \u00a0\u201cThirty years ago, if families experienced a miscarriage or infant death, they were told to forget it. Today, we encourage families to grieve in the way that best fits them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wave of Light occurs each year on October 15.<\/p>\n<p>Emily Woodley, manager of the JRMC Family BirthPlace, has seen firsthand those affected by infant loss and miscarriage. \u00a0She says, \u201cRenae Lunde has done an incredible job spearheading the Wave of Light service to provide an opportunity for healing to those who have lost a baby or pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event includes a short walk and balloon release at 6:30 p.m. A candle lighting ceremony and blessings for families will take place afterward at 7 p.m. If families need support year-round, they may contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/thetearsfoundation.org\/northdakota\/\">Jamestown TEARS Child Loss Support Group<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jagst.org\/\">Jamestown Area Grief Support Team.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Area Grief Support Team is a group of volunteers who offer to support those who grieve. The group organizes regular educational events and support groups to the community.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown TEARS Child Loss Support Group offers support for bereaved families who have experienced the loss of a child.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on Wave of Light, call 952-4807 or visit october15th.com.
