{"id":184682,"date":"2019-11-12T18:00:53","date_gmt":"2019-11-13T00:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=184682"},"modified":"2019-11-18T11:40:08","modified_gmt":"2019-11-18T17:40:08","slug":"frontier-village-board-to-meet-in-special-session","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=184682","title":{"rendered":"No Frontier Village Board meeting, No Quorum"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"first-p\">\n<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0\u00a0 The Frontier Village Association was to meet in Special Session, Tuesday, November 12, at 5:30-p.m., at the All Vets Club in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>FVA Board President, Melody Mittleider said that she received a letter from the FVA, attorney, Matthew Sorensen of Fargo, stating that without a quorum of board members, a meeting was not to be conducted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Video of the non-meeting<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: currentColor; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FTheReplayChannel%2Fvideos%2F435597527373908%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center>The letter from Sorensen stated:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon receipt of an agenda for a meeting of the Frontier Village Association (FVA) Board of Directors, scheduled for November 12, 2019, FVA Board members, Tina Busche, Joann Herrick, Shawn Syverson, and Jason Holland have advised me they will not be attending the November 12, 2019 meeting of the FVA Board of Directors.\u00a0 Pursuant\u00a0 to Article X of the FVA Bylaws a quorum will not be present and no FVA business shall be conducted.<\/p>\n<p>After various outbursts at the last meeting, these board members do not feel that it is feasible to conduct a productive meeting. The FVA board has made it abundantly clear that it will transfer its collection to the city of Jamestown.\u00a0 The abstaining board members request that the City work with the FVA attorneys at the Vogel Law Firm to finalize the FVA\u2019s affairs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Signed,<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Sorensen<\/p>\n<p>Melody\u00a0 was given the letter, by a\u00a0 a third party.\u00a0 It was learned that a board member and a media representative received the letter in advance.<\/p>\n<p>Melody then went on to say to those who came to attend the meeting, that she was \u201cHere to do the right thing,\u201d and to \u201cGet this thing in line.\u201d She added that she needs help in sorting through the process.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Mayor Dwaine Heinrich pointed out that the Jamestown City Attorney is not permitted to represent Frontier Village, as that would constitute \u201cmultiple parties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the city does not want to be \u201cgoaded\u201d into any action on behalf of the city, in this matter.<\/p>\n<p>He again pointed out that unless there is paper work showing agreements on how artifacts became a part of Frontier Village, it\u2019s not known what exists, or who owns them, and if they were loaned or given to the Village, and if they have the legal right to give them to the city.\u00a0 Mayor Heinrich said, of the process, \u201cThis will resolve itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Frontier Village Association lease from the City of Jamestown expires on December 31 this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Frontier Village Association voted November 1 on a 3-1 vote with one abstention to transfer all property and debt to the city of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Tourism Director Searle Swedlund said that Melody Mittleider, has shown, \u201cGreat humility and humanity,\u201d through the course of the last few weeks.\u00a0\u00a0 She became FVA Board President, when Jay Mickelson resigned the position.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday\u2019s agenda was to discuss:<\/p>\n<p>The appointment was made of new members and the election of officers.<\/p>\n<p>The members discussed the transfer of artifacts, fixtures, display items maintenance materials, furnishings and all items purchased or given, with the intent to benefit the operations of Frontier Village to the City of Jamestown, with Jamestown Tourism acting as the non profit recipient..<\/p>\n<p>Also considered was the transfer of live animals including three goats five ponies and one draft horse to the City of Jamestown, with Jamestown Tourism acting as the non profit recipient.<\/p>\n<p>The switching of names on accounts was considered for the camera system, telephone, post office, the City of Jamestown, Otter Tail Power, and D&amp;B portables.<\/p>\n<p>The dismissal of attorney, Matthew Sorenson of Vogel Law Firm and all parties related.<\/p>\n<p>(Previously, a law suit filed in Southeast District Court, by the Frontier Village Association against the City of Jamestown, with a temporary restraining order has been dismissed, following a stipulation of dismissal filed.\u00a0 The restraining order prohibited the City of Jamestown from interfering in the Transfer of items at Frontier Village to the Perham, Minnesota, Pioneer Village.)<\/p>\n<p>Change of signatures and request access of any financial accounts \u00a0of the Frontier Village Association, with BankForward, First Community Credit Union and Gate City Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The dismissal of Executive Director Nichole Mosolf.<\/p>\n<p>Also to be considered was the Dissolution of the Frontier Village Association.<\/p>\n<p>The Frontier Village Association voted November 1 on a 3-1 vote with one abstention to transfer all property and debt to the city of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Previously&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Update&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0\u00a0 The Frontier Village Association will meet in Special Session, TuesNov 12, at 5:30 pm at the All Vets Club in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>The agenda notice includes: \u201cIn an effort to have good and productive conversation, board members should direct questions to the board president.
