(uj.edu<\/a>) The University of Jamestown hockey team defeated the Minot State Beavers 4-1 Friday night in Minot,\u00a0both teams’ first return to action since the Jimmies topped the Beavers in a shootout during Hockey Day North Dakota last weekend.<\/p>\n The Beavers opened up the scoring late in the first period on a goal from Justin Metcalf and led 1-0 after one\u00a0period of play.<\/p>\n The Jimmies came out pressing in the second period and scored on a great individual effort from Dylan Haney<\/a> (JR\/Brandon, Manitoba), assisted by Allan Pruss<\/a> (SR\/Red Deer, Alberta) and Michael Pruss<\/a> (SR\/Red Deer, Alberta).\u00a0Later in the period Vladislav Zamzhytski<\/a> (JR\/Minsk, Belarus)\u00a0notched his first collegiate goal with assists from Carter Johnson<\/a> (SO\/Meeteetse, Wyo.) and Jeremy McNeil<\/a> (SR\/Calgary, Alberta)\u00a0on a seeing eye point shot at 16:36.<\/p>\n Jamestown’s strong play continued in the third as followed up his own rebound and found the net with an assist\u00a0from Tyler Chavez-Leech<\/a> (JR\/Red Deer, Alberta)\u00a0at 8:09. Later in the frame at 10:46, Cole McKechney<\/a> (SR\/Calgary, Alberta) deflected a Jordan Popoff<\/a> (FR\/Calgary, Alberta) point shot into the net to seal a 4-1 victory for the Jimmies.<\/p>\n
