Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown area goal on Giving Hearts Day was to raise $1-million.<\/p>\n

Numbers reported on Friday showed that just shy of $2-million was raised through matching contributions, a new record going to non-profit organizations.<\/p>\n

North Dakota officials reported that this year, a record $19,126,561 was raised by 34,574 donations.\u00a0 100% is sent directly to one of the 483 participating charities.<\/p>\n

Numerous Jamestown area nonprofits were the beneficiaries of Giving Hearts Day, Thursday.\u00a0 The JRMC Foundation reporting that they received donations totaling $114,000, from nearly 330 donors, to be used for equipment purchases and needed technology.<\/p>\n

Benefiting are JRMC Cancer Center, JRMC Hospice and the future fetal heart monitoring system for babies and laboring moms.<\/p>\n

JRMC President & CEO Mike Delfs, says, \u201cIntegrating the new system means nurses can spend more time at the bedside and less time behind a computer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND, February 14, 2020 \u2014 With the help of hundreds of community members, Jamestown Regional Medical Center raised more than $114,000 for technology and equipment.<\/p>\n

Giving Hearts Day is a 24-hour, online giving event. For every $10 donated, JRMC received a match, up to $55,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommunity support is incredible,\u201d said Lisa Jackson, Foundation Director. \u201cWith 24-hours of #GivingHeartsDay and your support, JRMC provides 24-hours of care, seven days a week, 365 days a year. We would not be able to care for the community without the support of so many.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nearly 330 donors supported causes including the JRMC Cancer Center, JRMC Hospice and the future fetal heart monitoring system for babies and laboring moms.<\/p>\n

The future fetal heart monitoring system will replace aging equipment. It allows moms to move around, get comfortable and help labor progress naturally, said Family BirthPlace Manager Emily Woodley. The system integrates mom and baby vitals automatically into the patient record, saving nurses\u2019 time and improving accuracy.<\/p>\n

\u201cDonor dollars provide innovation, technology and equipment to keep patients safe. In non-profit hospitals, our margins just don\u2019t allow for this in our budget,\u201d said JRMC President & CEO Mike Delfs. \u201cIntegrating the new system means nurses can spend more time at the bedside and less time behind a computer.\u201d<\/p>\n

JRMC was one of 15 Jamestown nonprofits to participate in Giving Hearts Day locally. Collectively, the group raised more than $1.8 million for local causes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a huge win for JRMC and the Jamestown community,\u201d Jackson said. \u201cThank you to the community for their giving hearts. What you\u2019ve done for JRMC and the Jamestown community will make THE difference in patient care.\u201d<\/p>\n

This Giving Hearts Day, more than 34,500 individuals gave $19 million to nonprofit organizations throughout the Upper Midwest.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery year on Giving Hearts Day, we talk about how gifts \u2018double the love.\u2019 When it comes to the JRMC this is absolutely true. Giving Hearts Day gifts directly affect our current patients; however, the love is doubled because those gifts help future patients too. Thank you to this community for the support. Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi) \u00a0Giving Hearts Day, 2020 is on Thursday February 13, with the Jamestown area goal to raise $1-million, supporting 15 Jamestown organizations.<\/p>\n

The one-day only opportunity is the opportunity for individuals, businesses schools, and many other organizations to multiply the impact of their gift, which can dramatically improve quality of life for people in our community.<\/p>\n

Dakota Medical and Impact Foundation hosts the 24-hour online event running from midnight to midnight on February 13. Gifts of $10 or more are matched up to the match figure. \u00a0Additional donations will be added to the total raised.<\/p>\n

On February 13th go to givingheartsday.org and click \u201cDonate\u201d to make a donation, or, scroll through the charities and type the name of the organization, or enter a zip code.\u00a0 Gifts can be donated prior to the event, at that same web address though February 12.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, we spoke with two representatives of Jamestown entities that area participating in Giving Hearts Day.<\/p>\n

Peggy Etzold from St. John\u2019s Academy said this is the fifth year they have participated in Giving Hearts Day.\u00a0 Those donating at least $10 will have their gift matched up to $20,000. The community is invited to St. John\u2019s Academy on Thursday for Caribou Coffee and donuts and cookies starting at 7:30-a.m. That evening from 5-7- the school board will offer a potato bar.<\/p>\n

Regina Olson from Jamestown Regional Medical Center said, 30-precent of Giving Hearts Day donations will go toward operations, and she noted JRMC is looking to purchase a Fetal Heart Monitor for the neo-natal unit.\u00a0 JRMC has a matching grant of $55,000.\u00a0 They will be hosting Bingo from 11-a.m., to 1-p.m., and monetary gifts may be placed on the Giving Tree at the Applebasket Caf\u00e9 from 7-a.m. to 7-p.m.<\/p>\n

Also, The Anne Carlsen Center participates in Giving Hearts Day.\u00a0 Donations of $10 or more that day means gifts can be doubled up to the match of $325,000.\u00a0\u00a0 The goal is to raise $650,000.<\/p>\n

Donations of at least $10 made to any of The Salvation Army\u2019s six locations in North Dakota on Thursday, Feb. 13 will be matched as part of Giving Hearts Day 2020.<\/p>\n

A generous donor has provided dollars to each North Dakota location to be used as matching funds for Giving Hearts Day. Salvation Army locations Jamestown, Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks, Minot and Williston will all be participating. Donations on Giving made to any of these service centers will be matched up to $6,500 per location.<\/p>\n

The VCSU Foundation is one of over 480 charities that will be participating in Giving Hearts Day on Feb. 13.<\/p>\n

Gifts made on Giving Hearts Day to the VCSU Foundation’s Annual Fund help support scholarships and other Alumni Association initiatives, including The Bulletin, alumni socials, reunion events and alumni award programs. On Thursday, Feb. 13, donate $10 or more at givingheartsday.org by choosing the VCSU Foundation and your donation will be matched up to $5,000!<\/p>\n

Donations can be dropped off anytime between now and 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the VCSU Foundation Office. If you drop off your check before Feb. 13, please make sure the check is dated and you have referenced Giving Hearts Day in the memo section in order for the donation to be counted for the match.
