\"\"Valley City\u00a0 (VCSU)\u00a0 Valley City State University sophomore Riley Perryman<\/a> has been named the NSAA Softball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.<\/p>\n

North Star Athletic Association Softball Player-of-the-Week<\/u><\/strong>
\nRiley Perryman<\/a> \u2013 Valley City State (N.D.) \u2013 5’5″ \u2013 Sophomore \u2013 Outfielder \u2013 Cottage Grove, Minn.<\/strong> \u2013 Perryman hit .667 for the week as Valley City State (N.D.) went 1-3 record in the Minot State (N.D.) tournament.\u00a0 She recorded at least a hit in all four games, including three multi-hit games.\u00a0 She smashed a home run, drew three walks and drove in four runs in Vikings’ 21-4 rout over Providence (Mont.).\u00a0 For the week, Perryman was 8-of-12 at the plate with five runs scored.\u00a0 She collected six RBIs and reached on base by a walk five times.\u00a0 She registered a slugging percentage of .917 in the tournament.<\/p>\n

North Star Athletic Association Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week<\/u><\/strong>
\nEmily Rochford \u2013 Bellevue (Neb.) \u2013 5’9″ \u2013 Junior \u2013 Pitcher \u2013 Waterloo, Iowa<\/strong> \u2013 Rochford tossed a 3-hit complete game shutout in Bellevue (Neb.) 7-0 victory over Clearly (Mich.) to kick off THE Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.\u00a0 She finished the game with nine strikeouts and issued just two walks.<\/p>\n

Recap from last week’s games<\/u><\/strong>
\nBellevue (Neb.), receiving votes in the NAIA Softball Coaches’ preseason Top 25 poll, kicked off THE Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. with a 2-1 record on March 1.\u00a0 The Bruins fell to Northwestern Ohio 8-2.\u00a0 Bellevue bounced back with a doubleheader sweep over Cleary (Mich.) 10-2 in five innings and 7-0.\u00a0 BU lifted their overall record to 5-2.<\/p>\n

Dickinson State (N.D.) went 2-0 record in Minot State (N.D.) tournament last weekend.\u00a0 The Blue Hawks fell to NCAA Division II Minot State (N.D.) 9-0 in an exhibition game on Feb. 28.\u00a0 DiSU followed up with a 12-8 victory over North Star’s conference foe No. 10-ranked Valley City State (N.D.) 12-8 on March 1.\u00a0 Dickinson State closed out the tournament with a 4-1 victory over Providence (Mont.) to improve their overall record to 5-5.<\/p>\n

Mayville State (N.D.) dropped a 12-1 exhibition contest to host-team Minot State in the tournament on Feb. 28.\u00a0 The Comets earned a pair of victories, holding off Providence 8-7 on Feb. 29 and defeating VCSU 10-5 on March 1.\u00a0 Mayville State is 3-3 overall record on the season.<\/p>\n

Valley City State went 1-3 record in the Minot State tournament, with the win coming out against Providence on March 1.\u00a0 The Vikings lost to the Blue Hawks and Minot State 8-6 on the first day of the tournament on Feb. 29.\u00a0 VCSU rolled past Providence 21-4 in six innings on March 1 and closed out the tournament with a defeat to the Comets.\u00a0 Valley City State is 3-9 overall record.<\/p>\n

Presentation (S.D.) began their Tucson (Ariz.) Invitational tournament with a 15-9 setback to Trinity Christian (Ill.) on Feb. 29.\u00a0 The Saints could not get back in the winning column as they suffered a pair of 9-0 defeats to Mount Marty (S.D.) and Madonna (Mich.) on March 1.\u00a0 PC dropped their overall record to 1-10.<\/p>\n

Viterbo (Wis.) and Dakota State (S.D.) were idle last week.\u00a0 The V-Hawks are 0-4 overall record, while the Trojans are 0-8 overall record.<\/p>\n

Waldorf (Iowa) returned to action on Feb. 29.\u00a0 The Warriors lost to Clarke (Iowa) 7-2 in the first game, followed by a 14-5 defeat in five innings in the second game.\u00a0 WU is 0-4 overall record.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead<\/u><\/strong>
\nBellevue (Neb.) continues their action in THE Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. this week.\u00a0 The Bruins face Bethel (Ind.) and Siena Heights (Mich.) Monday (today), continuing Tuesday with another pair of games versus Spring Arbor (Mich.) and No. 4-ranked Marian (Ind.).\u00a0 Bellevue takes a day off on Wednesday and return to action on Thursday against Cornerstone (Mich.) and a doubleheader with Michigan-Dearborn.\u00a0 On Friday, BU faces Missouri Baptist and Florida National.\u00a0 The Bruins close out the tournament against St. Xavier (Ill.) and St. Ambrose (Iowa) on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Presentation (S.D.) continues their action in the Tucson (Ariz.) Invitational Games Tuesday, taking on Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) and Northwestern (Iowa).\u00a0 On Wednesday, PC takes on Madonna (Mich.) and closes out the tournament against Jarvis Christian (Texas) on Thursday.<\/p>\n

No. 10-ranked Valley City State (N.D.) travels to Tucson this week and begin their tournament play on Thursday against Mount Marty (S.D.) and Madonna.\u00a0 The Vikings are schedule to play Northwestern (Iowa) and Jarvis Christian on Friday.\u00a0 On Sunday, VCSU takes on a pair of California teams, Simpson (Calif.) and Antelope Valley (Calif.).<\/p>\n

Dakota State (S.D.) is idle this week and won’t return to action until March 9 as they kick off their 8-game slate in the Tucson Invitational Games.\u00a0 Dickinson State (N.D.) begin their Tucson Invitational games on March 12 and play through March 21, including a 4-game series North Star conference action with Waldorf (Iowa) March 14-15.<\/p>\n

Mayville State (N.D.) will start their tournament in Tucson, Ariz. on March 11 against Jamestown (N.D.) and Bryant & Stratton (N.Y.).\u00a0 The Comets will play through March 17.<\/p>\n

Viterbo (Wis.) kicks off their Tucson tournament on Sunday against Aquinas (Mich.) and Embry-Riddle (Ariz.).\u00a0 The V-Hawks will continue their action in Tucson through March 13.<\/p>\n

Waldorf (Iowa) is idle this week and will return to action on March 9 as they play in the Sterling Softball Scramble in Gilbert, Ariz.<\/p>\n
