We will continue to monitor COVID-19 developments and NAIA leadership will work closely with our member institutions to determine the best path forward for future NAIA events, including\u00a0all spring 2020 championships.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Previously..<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jimmieathletics.com\/article\/5421.php\">UJ<\/a>)\u00a0 The University of Jamestown has announced\u00a0 on Thursday Morning\u00a0 that\u00a0 due to ongoing developments, the NAIA has decided to cancel Thursday&#8217;s pre-tournament public events \u2013 the NAIA Champions of Character event and Kickoff Banquet \u2013 and <strong>there will be attendance restrictions this weekend, but the tournament will go on, to begin at 10 a.m. this Friday at Harold Newman Arena. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Public attendance is limited to persons listed on a student-athlete pass list.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If they are not on a pass list, they will not be admitted into the arena. Persons on the pass list must produce a photo identification to gain admittance.<\/p>\n<p>Both Thursday&#8217;s NAIA Champions of Character event and kickoff banquet for the women\u2019s wrestling tournament in Jamestown had already been canceled out of precaution.<\/p>\n<p>All coaches and organizational meetings will go on as scheduled Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Officals are taking\u00a0 precautions to help curb the spread of coronavirus.\u00a0\u00a0 NAIA President and CEO Jim Carr released a letter stating that the NAIA plans to limit fan attendance at all remaining winter championships &#8212; including the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s Division I basketball championships &#8212; due to the outbreak of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<div class=\"p402_premium\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"p402_premium\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (UJ)\u00a0\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0The NAIA announced Thursday that effective immediately, it will be cancelling all remaining winter championship events, including those that are currently underway.
