Doug Burgum\u2019s emergency declaration, the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT)\u00a0is\u00a0adjusting services\u00a0to\u00a0provide\u00a0online\u00a0or mail-in\u00a0services\u00a0only\u00a0and working remotely to continue business operations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Public access will be restricted at all Driver License and Motor Vehicle facilities, effective Monday, March 23 until further notice.<\/strong> Employees will be working off site,\u00a0connected\u00a0virtually\u00a0to NDDOT operations\u00a0as business will proceed in a variety of ways through online services and processing mailed-in\u00a0paperwork\u00a0in order to continue\u00a0providing\u00a0customer service\u00a0on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor\u2019s Emergency Declaration has waived expiration dates for driver\u2019s licenses and motor vehicle registrations from March 1, 2020 until declared disaster has ended.\u00a0\u00a0NDDOT is working with law enforcement agencies in recognizing the waiver period.\u00a0The Federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has reported that they will allow travelers to board a plane with an expired driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Driver\u00a0License Services\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many\u00a0driver\u00a0license\u00a0services\u00a0will be\u00a0provided\u00a0online,\u00a0but\u00a0appointments and other\u00a0in-person services\u00a0will not be available\u00a0for Class D\u00a0driver\u2019s license\u00a0renewals,\u00a0REAL ID and tests for driver permits\u00a0or\u00a0licenses.\u00a0Driver license suspension services will remain available through telephone or\u00a0online.<\/p>\n<p>Commercial Driver License (CDL) renewals, permits, knowledge tests, road tests and new licenses will be\u00a0available and\u00a0scheduled by appointment only\u00a0starting March 30 as NDDOT develops a process for scheduling.\u00a0CDL drivers are essential to the state\u2019s economy as they work to provide COVID-19 supplies and move business and agricultural commodities\u00a0throughout the nation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Motor\u00a0Vehicle\u202fServices<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Motor vehicle services such as license plates and titling can be done by mailing in paperwork. Vehicle renewals can be done online, at a self-service kiosk or by mail. The NDDOT is waiving Motor Vehicle kiosk fees for renewing your vehicle until the emergency declaration has ended.
