\"\"<\/a>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The disabled traffic lights on First Avenue in Jamestown that were flashing yellow and red at intersections have been covered with bags.<\/p>\n

On June 1, the traffic lights were disabled with the exception of the intersection\u00a0 at First Avenue South and Third Street at the library intersection.<\/p>\n

The north & south traffic will not be stopping for cross traffic or pedestrians as normal.\u00a0 \u00a0Use extra caution.<\/p>\n

The 5 traffic signals on 1st Avenue were identified for removal as part of a proposed\u00a0“Road Diet”<\/a>\u00a0 project on US Highway 52 which is to narrow 1st Ave and parts of 5th St NW,\u00a0 to 1 lane north and 1 lane south, with a center turn lane.<\/p>\n

\u201cStop\u201d signs are posted on the east-west street.\u00a0 \u00a0Additional “No Parking” signs were installed for sight distance requirements as some corners have restricted views of oncoming traffic.\u00a0 \u00a0The signals were to be covered or bagged or set to flashing for 90 days, during which time the intersections will be evaluated.<\/p>\n
