Valley City\u00a0 (CHI)\u00a0\u00a0 CHI Mercy Health Hospital in Valley City announced Monday that there are no visitors allowed<\/strong>, starting immediately, and until further notice.<\/p>\n

CEO Keith Heuser says a positive case of COVID-19 was reported at the hospital in Valley City<\/strong> requiring the mandate.<\/p>\n

He says anyone suspicious of contracting the COVID-19 virus needs to call the hospital first at 845-6400.<\/p>\n

Exceptions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pediatric \u00a0Patients are allowed one adult<\/p>\n

Patients requiring caregivers.<\/p>\n

Critical Care\/End of life, will be determined by department manager.<\/p>\n

Anyone entering the hospital facility is required to wear a mask and will be screened at the front desk prior to entry.<\/p>\n

Cloth masks are acceptable or one will be provided.<\/p>\n

Follow these recommendations:<\/p>\n

Wash hands with soap and water, or alcohol based hand rub before and after your visit.<\/p>\n

Cover your sneeze or cough with your elbow, or a tissue.<\/p>\n

Valley City\u00a0 (VC Chamber)<\/p>\n

Valley City Mayor, Dave Carlsrud, on Monday Sept. 14, 2020, has passed along a message to Valley City residents.<\/p>\n

It says:<\/p>\n

Good news, our schools are under way.\u00a0Though there are challenges with reconvening, so far they have been manageable.\u00a0With students and school employees, VCPS and VCSU have about 2750 people so overseeing is a huge task.\u00a0Thank you all who are working to keep our schools safe for all.<\/p>\n

We have only a couple weeks remaining to be counted in Census 2020.\u00a0Please be coun<\/strong>ted<\/strong>!\u00a0Each person counted will generate over $19,000 and will determine our districts\u2019 of representation.\u00a0AND it is safe <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last week our Risk Level was raised to Yellow (I mistakenly said Orange<\/em> last week, I apologize) and while we have had a couple low reports, positives are escalating.\u00a0Some folks have been asymptomatic, but some have become very ill and it is no fun!\u00a0Let\u2019s be aware and protect each other as it takes a team.<\/p>\n

Please read this paragraph<\/b><\/em>.<\/strong>\u00a0Along with hygiene and social distancing, masks help immensely.\u00a0For \u201cmasking up\u201d to be effective, one does NOT have to wear the mask every-minute<\/strong>! Social distance, but if you cannot social distance, \u201cmask up\u201d, MaskUpND<\/strong>.\u00a0For instance if business owners would request employees and customers to \u201cmask up\u201d when the social distance cannot be achieved, it will be a positive contribution to our battle.<\/p>\n

One of our local legislators always says our area has a \u201cCan Do\u201d attitude and we need to \u201cJoin Hands\u201d to make things happen.\u00a0That said, l<\/strong>et\u2019s work together with efforts to move our Risk Level from Yellow to Green.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Bismarck\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Governor Doug Burgum, Monday afternoon held his weekly\u00a0COVID-19 News Briefing<\/a> from the state capitol in Bismarck.<\/p>\n

Burgum said saving lives and livelihood, includes metal health as well as physical health well being.\u00a0 He said more schools are holding classes in school buildings \u00a0as opposed to distance learning.<\/p>\n

He added that some school districts are short of teachers.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that protecting\u00a0 the most vulnerable population is continuing, including protecting healthcare workers, in long term care facilities, adding though, staff positive tests reflects the COVID -19 over all cases in the community, reflecting community spread.<\/p>\n

He repeated the #NDSmart Restart guidelines.<\/p>\n

Burgum said, those positive with COVID-19 need to stay diligent, in staying in isolation, \u00a0including those that have been in close contract with a positive individual.<\/p>\n

North Dakota health officials have confirmed 255 new COVID-19 cases in 24 counties and two additional deaths since the pandemic began. Officials said Monday the fatalities included a woman in her 90s from Burleigh County with underlying health conditions and an Eddy County woman in her 80s with underlying health conditions, That raised the state\u2019s total deaths to 170. Active cases statewide rose by four to a record 2,758 and hospitalizations went up by three, to 65.<\/p>\n
