She was one of three candidates on the November 2020 election ballot.<\/p>\n
Schwartz’s name will still be\u00a0on the ballot, as they have been printed.<\/p>\n
The deadline for removing a name for candidacy on\u00a0the ballot was September 2, 2020.<\/p>\n
If Schwartz received enough votes to be elected, the office would be considered vacant.<\/p>\n
With two active candidates for two open seats on the county commission, incumbent Mark Klose and\u00a0 Joan Morris are candidates on the general election ballot.\u00a0 In the June primary, election, Jill Schwartz was third in the balloting, of \u00a0candidates, with 2,337 votes.\u00a0 2,731 for incumbent Mark Klose and 2,765 for Joan Morris.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A bill named for a Fargo murder victim to address cases of missing and murdered Native Americans is heading to President Donald Trump\u2019s desk for his signature. Savanna\u2019s Act, which is named for Savanna Greywind, passed the House Monday after passing the Senate earlier this year. The law establishes better law enforcement practices to track, solve and prevent crimes against Native Americans. It directs the Departments of Justice and Interior to consult with American Indian tribes while developing national law enforcement guidelines. The 22-year-old pregnant Greywind was murdered in 2017 and her unborn baby was cut from her body. The infant survived.<\/p>\n

LOS ANGELES (AP) \u2014 Vanessa Bryant, the widow of basketball star Kobe Bryant, has filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles County sheriff claiming deputies shared unauthorized photos of the crash that killed her husband, their 13-year-old daughter and seven others. After the Jan. 26 crash, reports surfaced that graphic photos of the victims were being shared. Sheriff Alex Villanueva told news media that eight deputies took or shared graphic photos of the scene and he ordered the images deleted.<\/p>\n
BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) \u2014 Game 1 of the WNBA playoff semifinals between the Seattle Storm and Minnesota Lynx will be played tonight, two days after it was postponed because of inconclusive COVID-19 tests. The league says multiple players on the Storm had undergone additional testing and been cleared to rejoin the team. One player is still awaiting the results of a second test. A player needs to have two negative tests taken 24 hours apart to be cleared to play.<\/p>\n

The real number of dead is thought be much higher, in part because many COVID-19 deaths, especially early on, were probably ascribed to other causes. The number of lives lost in the U.S. is equivalent to a 9\/11 attack every day for 67 days. It is roughly equal to the population of Salt Lake City or Huntsville, Alabama.<\/p>\n

UNITED NATIONS (AP) \u2014 Chinese President Xi Jinping says his country will aim to stop adding to the global warming problem by 2060. Xi\u2019s announcement during a speech Tuesday to the U.N. General Assembly is a significant step for the world\u2019s biggest emitter of greenhouse gases and was immediately cheered by climate campaigners. Xi said his country would raise its emissions reduction targets with \u201cvigorous policies and measures,\u201d with CO2 emissions peaking by 2030 and then declining. Several other major emitters have set earlier deadlines, with the European Union aiming to be carbon neutral by 2050. The United States has so far not set such a goal.<\/p>\n

Only results from small early studies on the vaccine have been published, raising concerns among some experts that the Russian vaccine isn’t ready yet for widespread use. By contrast other vaccines that have also shown promise in early tests are now being studied more widely in tens of thousands of people in several countries to understand if they can protect people from infections. Pascale Ferrier was arrested Sunday at the New York-Canada border and is due to make her first court appearance Tuesday afternoon in federal court in Buffalo, New York. The envelope containing the toxic substance and the threatening letter was addressed to the White House but intercepted at a mail sorting facility on Friday. The FBI discovered that six additional similar letters appeared to have been received in Texas in September, according to court papers.<\/p>\n
