{"id":21149,"date":"2013-06-18T11:37:06","date_gmt":"2013-06-18T16:37:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=21149"},"modified":"2013-06-18T11:37:06","modified_gmt":"2013-06-18T16:37:06","slug":"jerome-cichos-jun-16-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=21149","title":{"rendered":"Jerome Cichos &#8211; Jun 16, 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jerome Cichos, 69, of Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at his home.<\/p>\n<p>Jerome Cichos was born on September 16, 1943, the son of Basil \u201cBen\u201d and Anna Mae (Landscoot) Cichos. He attended Franklin grade school and graduated from St. John\u2019s Academy in 1961. In July of 1961, he joined the US Navy and served in San Diego and Long Beach, CA for a year. Jerome then served aboard the USS Stark County (LST-1134) home port, Pearl Harbor, HI, for over two years. He was honorably discharged in 1964 as EM3 (Electrician Mate 3rd Class). Jerome returned to Jamestown where he learned the bar tending trade at Big Jim\u2019s Lounge, and later Mac\u2019s Lounge and the Elks Club. Jerome married Judy Haman on April 16, 1966 at St. Cecelia\u2019s Catholic Church, Towner, ND. They owned and operated Jerry\u2019s Bar, and later the Trading Post Bar in Jamestown. In 1964, Jerome started working as a substitute rural mail carrier with the USPS and gained full time status in July 1985. He retired in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>He was involved with the North Dakota Rural Letter Carriers Association, serving as 2nd District Committeeman and Vice-President, then President for the State of North Dakota. He also served as co-Chairman of the DJSC (Dakota Joint Steering Committee) for the Dakota District USPS. Jerome was honored as North Dakota Letter Carrier of the Year in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Jerome was a member of the American Legion Ernest DeNault-Robertson Post #14, Life Member of the Knights of Columbus #1883 and the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight and Chairman of the Building Committee. He was also a lifetime member of the Elks and a member of the St. James Basilica, Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Jerome is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Cichos, Jamestown; three sons, Jay, Jamestown, Jef &amp; Rhonda Cichos and Jerome\u2019s two special and loved granddaughters, Haley \u201cTeapot\u201d and Addisyn \u201cMissy\u201d, Staples, MN and Jon &amp; Megan, Jamestown; two brothers, Steve &amp; Carolyn Tomlin-Cichos, Jamestown and Dave &amp; Mary Jo Cichos, Rugby, ND; sister-in-law, Joan, Rexburg, ID.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Donald \u201cRick\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Eucharist of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, ND.<\/p>\n<p>Knights of Columbus Rosary: 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, ND.<\/p>\n<p>Prayer Service \u2013 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, ND.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation \u2013 1:00p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Memorials: Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice or the Knights of Columbus.<\/p>\n<p>Online Guestbook \u2013 www.williamslisko.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jerome Cichos, 69, of Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at his home.
