North Dakota health officials are reporting that hospitalizations due to complications from the coronavirus reached another new high after increasing by five in the last day. The Wednesday report showed that 220 people were being treated in medical facilities across the state. There were 14 staffed intensive care beds and 188 staffed inpatient beds available in North Dakota, according to state data. The increase in patients came on day when the state reported 12 additional deaths, lifting the total number of fatalities to 567. The COVID Tracking Project reports that the death count is the 15th highest per capita in the country at about 75 deaths per 100,000 people.<\/p>\n

(AP) \u2014 Authorities say a 4-year-old girl died in an apartment fire in Hebron, west of the Bismarck-Mandan area. They were able to get three of the four people living in the apartment out of the building. An elderly woman was airlifted to a Bismarck hospital for treatment. A boy was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Their conditions are not known.<\/p>\n In sports\u2026<\/p>\n VALLEY CITY \u00a0(VCSU)\u2013 The Barnes County Athletic Association and Valley City State University have announced changes to the annual Girls Basketball Barnes County Tournament.<\/p>\n Instead of playing a three-day tournament in early December at VCSU\u2019s W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse, the participating teams will schedule and play three regular season games that week at home locations of the participating schools. The games will be non-tournament contests with all opponents determined ahead of time. The games will be scheduled for Dec. 8, 10 and 12.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Events in Barnes County are currently restricted to 100 people, based on the current recommendations from the ND Smart Restart Guidelines.
