{"id":212043,"date":"2020-11-05T14:23:50","date_gmt":"2020-11-05T20:23:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=212043"},"modified":"2020-11-05T14:23:50","modified_gmt":"2020-11-05T20:23:50","slug":"glyndon-john-white-nov-5-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=212043","title":{"rendered":"Glyndon John White &#8211; Nov 5, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"parallax\">\n<div class=\"contain\">\n<article class=\"obituary\">\n<section id=\"obit-text\" class=\"obit-text text-fade\">Glyndon John White was born to Thomas and Mary White of Carrington ND on January 6<sup>th<\/sup>, 1927.\u00a0 He graduated from Carrington High School in 1944 and entered the US Navy in 1945-1946.\u00a0 Upon his return to North Dakota he graduated from Jamestown College in 1950.<\/p>\n<p>Glyndon was a lifelong teacher.\u00a0 He began his career in 1950 in Knox ND and moved to Cando in 1952.\u00a0 In 1955 he took a position at Jamestown Junior high teaching 9<sup>th<\/sup> grade science.\u00a0 He earned his Master\u2019s degree in Chemistry from University of South Dakota at Vermillion in 1960.\u00a0 \u201cMr. White \u201ctaught 9th grade science until 1986 when they drafted him to teach high school chemistry where he remained until his retirement in 1988.\u00a0 Mr. White was respected by his students throughout the 38 years of his career.\u00a0 Even years later students recognized him and thanked him for sharing his teaching expertise and patient efforts to help them learn and succeed.<\/p>\n<p>Retirement brought a second career in management of the Hillcrest Golf Course clubhouse and teaching others how to play the game he and Dorothy so loved.\u00a0 He stayed with Hillcrest until the summer of 1997 when he decided just to spend time playing the game.<\/p>\n<p>Glyndon had many interests in his life.\u00a0 He was a member of VFW, member of Jamestown B.P.O.E., and Hillcrest Men\u2019s golf Association. Professionally he served as President of ND Science Teacher Association and was a loyal member of NDEA throughout his career.\u00a0 Ever devoted to children he gave his summer to serving as Elks Youth Camp Director at Camp Grassick 1969 to 1970.<\/p>\n<p>Glyndon and Dorothy (Wagner) were married in Carrington, ND at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Carrington, ND on August 2, 1948. He was the oldest of 7 children, four sisters and 2 brothers.\u00a0 He is survived by his four sisters and one brother.\u00a0 Family was extremely important to him as he tried to be present at the baptisms, communions and confirmations of his grandchildren to celebrate with them. Holidays usually meant delicious meals with lots family and fun. He is survived by 3 children, Kathy, Linda, and Robert, 11 grandsons and one granddaughter, and 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.\u00a0 He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mary, his wife Dorothy, his daughter Patricia Ann and granddaughter Amanda and brother who passed in infancy.<\/p>\n<p>His family wishes to thank all the staff at Ave Maria for the compassionate care over the past 4 years.\u00a0 Special thanks to the staff who cared for him during his battle with coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>Memorials should be sent to Ave Maria Care Center in Jamestown, ND.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Graveside Service:<\/strong> 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Glyndon John White was born to Thomas and Mary White of Carrington ND on January 6th, 1927.\u00a0 He graduated from Carrington High School in 1944 and entered the US Navy in 1945-1946.\u00a0 Upon his return to North Dakota he graduated from Jamestown College in 1950.
