BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The number of coronavirus vaccine doses being delivered to North Dakota is increasing. Gov. Doug Burgum says the state will receive a 5% increase in the number of vaccine doses. North Dakota will receive 7,500 doses next week, up from 6,900 doses this week. Also, Thrifty White pharmacies in North Dakota will be getting the vaccine starting this week as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. The state\u2019s immunization program manager, Molly Howell, says 16 of the 30 Thrifty White locations in North Dakota have registered to receive the vaccine. According to the company\u2019s vaccination registration website, its pharmacies are inoculating people 65 and older.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Hugos-and-Anne-Carlsen-Center-002-300x225.jpg\")

(AP) \u2014 A Republican-led North Dakota Senate panel has refused to endorse a bill prohibiting any new abortion clinics from opening within 30 miles of a school. The bill also aimed to bar the state\u2019s sole abortion clinic in downtown Fargo from expanding. The Senate Political Subdivisions Committee on Thursday gave the bill a \u201cdo-not-pass\u201d recommendation, after some of the panel members worried it would not survive an expensive court challenge. The bill now goes to the full Senate for consideration. The American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood called the measure unjustified, unreasonable and likely unconstitutional.<\/p>\n Bismarck\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 \u2013 Gov. Doug Burgum this week sent a letter urging the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to allow the Dakota Access Pipeline to continue operating as the Corps conducts a court-ordered Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) review on the pipeline.<\/p>\n The letter was sent Tuesday to R.D. James, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, and Col. Mark R. Himes, commander of the Corps\u2019 Omaha District. A federal judge on Tuesday granted the Corps\u2019 request to postpone until April 9 a court hearing on whether the pipeline should be allowed to continue to operate during the EIS review.<\/p>\n \u201cShutting down the pipeline during the EIS review would have devastating consequences for the State of North Dakota and a chilling effect on infrastructure investment across our nation,\u201d Burgum stated in the letter.<\/p>\n Shuttering the safely operating pipeline would weaken U.S. energy security, create more competition for rail access for farmers, add unnecessary risk for motorists by putting more truck traffic on roads, and increase the price discount on Bakken crude, Burgum noted. Stronger economic growth has helped to reduce the anticipated shortfall for this year. Still, the deficit could soon be revised upward if President Joe Biden\u2019s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package becomes law.
